ACE Spelling Dictionary Paperback – 31 Dec. 1998

My whole family are massively impressed by this dictionary! We've never seen anything like it before and can't understand why not! We bought it for our dyslexic 11 year old, but our 6 year old who loves story writing, and constantly asks me for spellings, has found that she can be more independent with this book. She knows all her sounds from her excellent school, so this dictionary really works well for her! It is genius!

Really happy with my purchase. This is a really useful aid for my dyslexic child and I can’t recommend it enough. Great book, if you’re thinking of buying this I would say go for it!The only reason I haven’t given it 5 stars is because the seller listed the item as being in excellent condition. It wasn’t. Whilst no pages were missing, it is a little dog eared and has a primary school stamp on the first page and a number stuck to the spine, so it looks like we’ve borrowed and never returned it! Wouldn’t say this is excellent but never mind.

Really good just a shame they are not in every school and students are left to struggle unless you find out about these Dictionary's.Does Your Student Struggle to Spell then How can they be expected to find the word in a Dictionary that isn't made The way They Learn. We all know we learn thing differently we use our technology differently why not Dictionary's. I have used this and its FAB!

Absolutely fantastic. My Son has Autism, ADHD & Dyslexia amongst other conditions and was struggling at English. This book was recommended by a friend with a Daughter who is dyslexic. I took a copy into the school to discuss it with the learning support teacher, She was explaining that she was doing a training course to use this with children with a dyslexic problem and was highly praising it.I am now waiting to do a short course on the best way to use the bok to help my son with it. Having tried to use it myself I found it a bit confusing at first then got the hang of it and was away in about half an hour. It is great for us as it has the scottish pronounciation as well as the more common english way of using vowels etc.All in all I found this book really helpful and have now recommened it to three other people with dyslexic children. It will allow my son to look up words himself and give him a bit more independance at school when doing his work.

Brilliant for my dyslexic 9 year olds (with reading level of age 7-8) they are able to use it easily after some simple instructions

Whether they are children or adults, this is a great resource for auditory learners. Some practice is needed at the start or usage can be slow. There is another great ACE resource to go with this that provides photocopyable worksheets to enable plenty of practice, or you can just list the students' own problem-words and call them out to be found by the student. Visual learners may use this too, but they often forget that they are supposed to be identifying the sound and not the look of a word.

My son has always struggled with his spelling and is going through tests to assess whether he is dyslexic or not! I stumbled upon this book which had really good reviews! My son read it first and within minutes understood how it worked! The number of words is quite limited, but for children that age I guess it is not necessary to have more just yet. It is helping my son which is the most important thing and is now using at school all the time! Very good purchase!

My son picked up this book and found the word he was looking for straight away with out using the guild. I, however, is finding it harder to use as Im used to using a normal dictionary. My son said he didnt feel silly and frustrated using it as he does when trying to use a dictionary. Im am going to look for a smaller version which can be carried in his school bag, this one is too big.
