#12x2-1/2" Reamer Tek Torx/Star Head Self-Drilling Wood to Metal Screws - 1 lbs ~55 Tek Screws - Tek Screws for Flatbeds, Trailers, or for Fastening Wood to Steel - T-25 Torx Screw Head

I used these Reamer Tek screws to attach new 2x8 decking to my utility trailer steel frame. I first attempted to use my impact driver, contrary to instructions included in the vendor packaging, and threads stripped without holding tight. After switching to my drill I was able to install the screws with great results. Trailer frame material is 1/4' thick and while the screws were indeed able to self drill, I found it easier for me (I'm not a young guy any longer) to drill 11/64 pilot holes first.

Product would overheat going thru rough cut 2x lumber. When the tip got hot it would not cut thru the trailer metal. The tip would smoke and ball up. Screw is no longer usable at this point.

I would suggest getting longer than you think you need and I had to predrill every hole through 1/4” steel or thicker.

#12x2-1/2" Screws use a T-30, not T-25 as advertised. Otherwise, they work well. I do wish the drill was a bit sharper. Slow drill speed is critical. The bit will dig into the metal better at slower speeds.

This a much better option than the ones you get at a box store. To start with its made from steel not aluminum and it has a torque head instead of a philips head which makes it much easier to install. It cut right through the steel supports holding the boards up.

This screw seems solid and the head doesn’t strip out. However, when you size your screw according to their chart, buy the next size up that they say you need. I’m having to return the 2.75 and get 3.25 for my trailer. They seem to bite threw the steel ok, nothing spectacular, but mine couldn’t get enough thread into the metal. Couple of threads so I’ve had several that just let of the metal and the boards popped up.

I used these screws to put a new floor in my flat bed 6x10 trailer. Very good quality! Were easy to drill through wood into my metal rails, as long as you don't try to screw through welded areas. Highly recommend these reamer screws!!
