Truth for Today
I purchased 3 of these books, one for me and one each for my two daughters. I asked them to read it and let's discuss it as a gift to me for Christmas 2013. We had our own little "book club" meeting a few days after Christmas, and both girls shared with me what they learned and liked about the book. I knew, as a busy working Christian mom, I had not had the chance to share with and teach them all of the biblical truths I should have as they were growing up, although I did the best I could. Now at age 23 and 21, they are at a more receptive place in their lives to learn and grow more personally as well as in the Lord. I loved how well researched this book is--both in scripture and through the wisdom of other Christian authors. This is a book for every young mother, middle-aged mother, grandmother and every daughter. It goes against what the world is throwing at our young ladies--and that is exactly why it is needed today!

Good read
The first chapter was somewhat biased, but the remainder of the book contains good reminders of what God wants us to be.

Relevant and needed
Very good book for a Women's Bible Study. The discussion questions are probing as well as thought provoking and sure to generate lively discussion for a study group. Reinforces the notion that the Bible is as relevant and needed today for women as it ever was.

Great book
I have really enjoyed reading this book, and I have used for a lady's class that I have been teaching on women in the ministry. The points have gone right along with what I am teaching, and everyone in the class has learned so much

Good Insights, Off-putting Tone
This is a compilation of essays on biblical manhood and womanhood, written by women coming from Reformed traditions. Topics covered include marriage, child rearing, women's ministry, true beauty, and developing a godly character. I appreciated Susan Hunt's contributions, as well as Mary A. Kassain's beautiful essay on realizing God as father.I found many of the voices included in this collection to be somewhat difficult to digest at times. My criticisms are not really ones of a theological nature, as I'm sure I share many of the same presuppositions as the women whose writings comprise this collection. My struggle had more to do with delivery and the tone with which the ideas are expressed. It seemed to me that, in an effort to avoid capitulating to our culture's current view of gender, many of the authors seemed to renounce any attempt to thoughtfully engage and respond to their opponents. Biblical manhood and womanhood is extremely countercultural and often offensive to mainstream society - all the more reason for orthodox voices to present nuanced arguments that take objections seriously and respond in disarming, sensitive ways. I wouldn't advocate watering down the Bible's teachings in an effort appease the culture, but most people are turned off, and understandably so, by a posture that says, "If you don't like it, then tough because that's just the way it is!" Unfortunately, that kind of cavalier attitude seemed to be dripping from the pages at times, and to what end?For that reason, I would hesitate to recommend this collection, although I am interested in hearing more from Susan Hunt and Mary A. Kassain.

Becoming God's True Woman
This is an excellent book for any woman who wants to become all that God created her to be. The various authors address their topics from the authority of Scripture. If you truly want to know God's design and purpose for you as a woman, read this book. If you already embrace God's plan for womanhood, this book will encourage you as you fulfill your role, whatever it might be at this time.

Possibly the best book ever chosen by a women's Bible Study group ...
We are reading this book as a group for a night time women's Bible study. We have completed two chapters already. I find it true to Scripture, genuine, practical, challenging, and very interesting to read. Possibly the best book ever chosen by a women's Bible Study group that I have been a part of. I definitely recommend it.
