My Saturday afternoons as a kid!
This was the one of the first TV Westerns and of course the best! Clayton Moore was "THE" Lone Ranger. This collection was season 1 &2 when Clayton Moore was the actor. I did not know as a kid that in season 3 a different actor played him. Since we did not get a TV until 1960 and the first run was over I watched this in syndication on Saturday afternoon. The transfer quality was great and even better than on our TV. The sound quality was not very good and neither on the transfer. I finally got to see the first 3 episodes that set up the whole Lone Ranger saga.

This is for those who Remember the Lone Ranger from the 1960's.
This is for those who remember the Lone Ranger from the 1960's. This is in no way High Def. That said, if that's what you're looking for on modern TV's it will be a better def. than any time you ever saw it on the old cathode ray tubes. This is for us old timers who know what stirs in our hearts when we hear the opening music to every show (The William Tell overture) and still believe in those values wether Dem. or Repub.

The producers have put together a very neat looking package here. Highly colourful box and individual DVD's. The picture and sound quality is very decent too, and full screen. However, the pre-production authoring failed to remove the original sponsors of the show - General Mills. So, you will be forced to view images of a wheat farm every now and then during the show. The narrator will inform you that the show will resume after a short message from their sponsors. But the image only shows the wheat fields for a moment and the General Mills name has been removed. Second bugbear, every episode will remind you of why the person is called the Lone Ranger, yada yada yada. So sit through it and bear it. And enjoy the show all with derogatory remarks aimed at the Native American Indians, by the usual red necks and hill billies of that era.
