As an amateur who enjoys book binding and paper crafts, this is a great starter kit. It has the basics for what you need. The bone folder is good quality, works well for making creases and folding paper. Binder clips are helpful for keeping my blocks together. The thread is nice quality, too (for my first time trying waxed thread) and is easy to work with. It still does tangle a bit, but I used a long amount of thread.The only criticism/suggestions that I have for future kits would be to change the glue brush or offer different sizes (e.g. I like to use a flat brush, sometimes fatter somethings thinner). Also having another size awl would be awesome, or maybe a punch.

This set has proven to be quite good! I made a book using normal thread which tangled constantly and extended the process significantly. Since having purchased this, binding is FAR easier with the waxed thread. The bone folder is also more substantial than the plastic one I had. Lovely!

This kit enabled me to bind a pamphlet I created and I was very pleased with the results. I followed directions for the binding from another site, but the items in the kit worked great. The reason I only gave it four stars is it was missing the awl, and I couldn't find a way to contact the manufacturer. Since I wanted to use it immediately, I couldn't return it either. Still, it's a great kit for a newbie like myself.

All of the materials have worked well for me with my first few homemade and upcycled books.The only thing I would be aware of is the needle pack. I would have liked curved needles or ones that had better tips for going through signature pages and covers. The needles are more like embroidery or needlepoint with the larger having rounded tips.

Comes with sturdy tools that are easy to use. Great variety of waxed thread. Needles are durable and haven't failed me yet. Comes in a compact kit making it easy to travel with. Great kit for sewing my junk journal signatures into their covers and provides an aesthetically pleasing exposed binding if that's what you're looking for.
