This is my first time using chalk paint. I decided to paint an entire oak bedroom set in the caviar paint. I love the matte finish. I love how easy it is to work with this paint. I was super impressed that I could wet my brush with just a couple spritzes of water from a spray bottle and use it with the chalk paint for thinning out a coat if I wanted to. It leaves no brush marks and is almost self-leveling. The more coats I did the better it looked. But I could have gotten away with just one or two coats. Chalk paint does take about 30 days to cure if you're not going to seal it with a poly acrylic or other type of sealant. They recommend using a wax to protect the matte finish. I tried their easy peasy spray wax, I wasn't impressed. I almost think I got a knock-off product here on Amazon. Next time I try the easy peasy spray wax I would get it from Dixie Bell's site. However the chalk paint was top-notch. You can also buy a tub of the clear or colored wax from Dixie Belle and work that into the furniture for more of a protective layer. I chose to just seal the top of my dresser vanity and nightstand with a couple layers of polyacrylic to protect it from spills and makeup. But I left the rest of those pieces as well as the headboard and footboard plane matte without polyacrylic. I also followed a YouTube tutorial on how to paint the upholstery of the vanity stool with chalk paint. Instead of having to reupholster, it gives the look and feel of a soft leather. You simply spray the fabric with water bottle to dampen it, work the chalk paint into the fabric and circular motions with the short chip brush, sand between layers, then seal it with wax. The paint does not come off on your clothes it completely dries and is soft to the touch. I highly recommend chalk paint for this use!

This is an excellent product! I used a brush then followed up with a roller to have no brush lines. Even with a brush if applied with a damp brush it left few brush lines. It dries super matte which I loved. Very forgiving. I will say that I needed something darker than this but not totally black and they don't have it in a chalk paint so I mixed the Dixie Belle Coffee Bean color with a matte black chalk paint of a cheaper brand. Since I had more of the matte black product I used it straight, without mixing, on the inside parts of the cabinet. That was how I noticed the superior quality of the Dixie Bell product to the cheaper brand. When I went over both of these areas, the unmixed black matte chalk paint compared to where I mixed it with the Dixie Belle coffee bean color. The latter didn't come off on my brush when I went over it with it with a finish clear coat. So I know that the Dixie Belle product will be more durable long term.

Easy to apply, dries quickly. Turned a boring oak spice cabinet into a gorgeous pop of color in my kitchen!

Paint coverage is great and easy to apply

I got two good sized pieces out of the 16oz I did 2 layers and got a great end result. Definitely in love with the color because it's neutral and goes well with a dark stain and the bronze handles. Sold the Armoire within a few hours of posting it!

This paint brand is my favorite! So high quality plus this color goes on so smoothly

I was nervous about picking this color online, but it came out just as I had hoped! It’s a beautiful “farmhouse-y” green. I used their brand primer, and then this is two coats of the green. So easy, and it looks gorgeous! I bought a bigger size thinking I would need it, but I painted two of our exterior doors (one ISide only) with this jar and I still have plenty left over. I could have probably gotten away with the 8oz

This was my first experience using chalk paint. I used it on this small dresser that was covered in a sloppy, ugly, poorly-applied stain. I first sanded the piece with 100 grit sand paper on my electric sander. Then I applied the paint directly to the sanded, wiped down surface. The coverage was amazing and the paint went a long way. I still have 3/4 of a container of paint after applying two coats of paint. I topped my piece with stain polyurethane. I think a wax sealer would of looked better but I needed a very durable finish for this price in my craft room.Great paint for a first-time furniture flipper!
