An Okay Read
I wanted to love this book and dive head deep into this series but unfortunately this will be more of a one and done for me. I love all things Marvel so when I saw that Stan Lee was involved in the creation of this series I jumped. This book would probably be great for younger readers possibly around 10-12 but for those of us who are older I believe the story and character development leave a lot to be desired.I like how the story gets you to the main premise quickly and that the pace of the story keeps you engaged. However, you learn very little about characters and the story plays out simply as good versus evil. The bad guy Maxwell is totally one dimensional and the heroes overcome their obstacles and character flaws just a bit too easily. Unfortunately, I would have liked more substance to the novel in order to rate it as anything more than three stars. I recommend the book for kids but adults should look elsewhere.

I Wanted to Like It More
I wanted to like this book. Why wouldn't I like this book? Stan Lee, king of comics and super heroes, lending his name to a new series of YA novels and published by Disney. Good track records all around.Of course I knew Lee's name didn't indicate that he actually wrote the book, just as I know James Paterson is a brand at this point, but I figured I'd give it a try and I liked the setup in the sample I downloaded.Unfortunately, this book has the one fatal flaw I have with any book: the dialog and characterization is just over the top. It doesn't make sense and illogic proceeds logic all the time. Sure, it's the first book in the series, but it's littered with characters that - for the most part - all seem the same. They have unique attributes, but those attributes aren't translated into unique personalities to be explored.I'll be the first to admit that dialog may be the hardest part of writing. Capturing a voice - tone, inflection, etc - is a challenge and it can make or break a novel. If the characters do not sound real, then it's hard to accept them as plausible. With that said, I'm also hardly the target audience and I think there's enough action and fun in this book to keep young readers entertained, but I also know there are plenty of other books and series out there that will do the same without sacrificing the quality of writing.

Turned my son into a reader.
I personally have not read this book. I bought it for my son. He is the worlds biggest complainer when it comes to reading. Not with this book!! He is 11 years old and read this book when he was 10. We are chomping at the bit for the second one to come out in January 2016. My son, who hates to read, finished this 440+ page book in one week. And I didn't have to ask him to read once. He did it all on his own.He told me some about the book as he was reading it. Basically there are these people with different zodiac signs that have certain powers. There are good guys and bad guys. The main character is coming into his own when it comes to what he and his powers are capable of and who he is up against. There are a few comic like pictures in the book.If you've seen the show Hero's, that is what this book reminds me of.

This is the beginning of a Fantastic new series!
As Stan Lee himself said, this is a book for anyone who loves a great adventure. Friendship and teamwork are the crucial part of the book as well as believing in yourself. it doesn't matter if you are 5 or 92, this book has something for everyone. I highly recommend anyone to give this book a chance. What is your zodiac sign? Would you be a rooster like Roxanne? A rabbit like Kim? A ram like Liam? A pig like Duane? Perhaps a dragon like Jasmine (or Maxwell)? Or maybe even a tiger like the hero, Steven Lee? Want to find out for yourself? Then this is the book for you. it's time to embark on an epic quest to save the world. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Fun book!!
This is a decent book especially if you like super hero’s or Percy Jackson style books. The only con to this book is it was slow in the beginning ( at least I thought so).

A very good story
A good one for the kids. Lots of actions, characters and different places and an ending that left more to come.

The story line was unique in using the Chinese astrology as power symbols.
