Best printer for your buck! Ethernet card for an IP address!! Refill like crazy, and PRINT like crazy!!
Fantastic! Operating systems printing on this printer: 2 Chromebook Laptops, 1 Kindle Fire, 2 Android Phones, and 1 Windows 7 computer. No issues. Fastest install ever. The 2 Chromebooks need an extension call HP Print to Chrome and after that fast addition with the printers IP address, we were in business. Wow. WOW!! You will find something useful in this printer guaranteed. I have struggled with print issues for years and have always wanted a laser printer with and ethernet card that provides a simple IP address to direct my printing traffic similar to printers at work but the past few years most printers were very expensive that included an ethernet card. I even tried a printer with wireless wifi connections and google print, BIG MISTAKE. Try this very affordable laser printer, jack in the ethernet connection to your router/switch, and watch you print worries go away. The damn printer even decided to print on its own at one point to remind me that it (the printer) had a specific email address I could email it to with any print stuff. Wouldn't you know it? IT PRINTS when you EMAIL IT as well!! I would be surprised if you could not find a method to simply get your print on with this thing. Well worth the money. HP nailed it with this one. Regarding pricing on print cartridges: GET THE REFILL BOTTLE AND LEARN HOW TO REFILL THE TONER from youtube and you will save $$$. Example, for $8 you could get a bottle of toner on amazon and learn how to empty the used ink/toner cartridge and refill (twice with one bottle) with some fresh toner. OR you could spend $100 and get a new one. YOU DO THE MATH. Print, print some more, PRINT LIKE CRAZY. Get some baby.

It Has Worked Flawless Right From The Start
I would not recommend this printer for envelopes or labels because it does not have a straight-path feed-through. If you open the door on the back, it displays an error message, Door Open. So that lack of feature is disappointing. It curves the paper around severely which is just fine for regular paper, however not a good situation for labels. It is OK for envelopes, if you only print a few of them now and then. It printed on Card Stock very well, once the parameter was changed to the thick paper setting. Otherwise it will leave residual toner behind which contaminates subsequent sheets, and the toner will not adhere properly. Once it is set correctly, it works very well. The print quality is very impressive. I went between line art, gray scale, photos, line drawings, and it auto-corrected for optimal graphics quality. Print quality is very impressive and surprising fast in both single sided mode and duplex mode, which by the way is very easy to setup. Overall, it’s a very easy printer to use. I like that. Some people complain that the toner costs 3 times as much, however it also prints 3 times as much, so the cost per sheet isn’t that expensive after all. Some of the problems others had reported were apparently corrected, because I didn’t have any problems at all. It has worked flawless right from the start.

Nice printer, and I can print wirelessly - thru Wi-Fi.
Works great! Although this model, M402n, does not have wireless capabilities built in, i can print wirelessly from laptops easily thru Wi-fi. Set up was so easy. First, connected the printer to my Wi-Fi router with a USB cable. Then turned on the printer. Then opened my Mac's System Preferences, "Printers and Scanners". Just clicked "+" to add a printer. The printer shows up , I selected it and ticked the box, "Share this printer on a network". Now, as long as my laptops are connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Wi-Fi router, the printer shows up. I had an antiquated non-network printer. I had it connected to my desktop via USB. For or other computers, like our laptops, to print, they had to go thru a computer to computer network, so the desktop computer where the printer was connected had to be on, and the first page took a long time. Now, connecting this printer to the router, our MacBook and Chromebook can print without the desktop being on, and the first page is out super fast.

Good for Polar Bears, not so much for the user.
I purchased this thing to replace a M401 dn that worked flawlessly for years until the duplexer broke on using some heavy stock paper. I bought this thing, set it up on the Ethernet network, and it is connected as are a Brother mulitpurpose laser scan-fax-printer, an Epson wide-format inkjet printer, and a Cannon six-cartridge ink-jet printer. However, unlike the M401dn this LaserJet M402dn will go into sleep mode if not used and you absolutely cannot wake it up out of it unless you (1) use the menu on the printer and select a configuration report which causes it to come out of sleep mode and start printing again for a while or (2) you manually unplug the 110V cord and plug it in again which also makes it available again. The On/Off button on the front of the M402dn will not take it out of sleep mode. I am thinking of returning it tomorrow, I called HP support tonight with no results. Only thing to show for me consulting HP support on this product is an Email. No help available -- it should be. Prints nice, probably cost effective, but this Econo Mode might be good for polar bears but not for productivity!

Great printer so far, with minor caveats.
After my HP 4000TN bit the dust (reasonable, given that it lasted 18 years w/o a hitch), I ordered this as a replacement. It's very fast, prints on both sides, has adjustable paper tray, connects to Google Drive, plus a myriad of other options. A few things to note: 1. The most baffling is the specified range of operating temperature, 63.5 - 77 degrees F. My old HP 4000 went from 50-91 degrees (see page A-15 of User's Manual). In my locale, most days in Spring through Fall are above 77, and some above 100. What will happen to this printer?? 2. It's a bit noisy when it's running, but that's to be expected. Quiet as a mouse in sleep mode. 3. I'm on a Mac and connect to a network via IP and a network cable. Works fine on OSX 10.8 and later, but an earlier OS is likely to consume a great deal of time and messing around. I suspect that if you connect straight to a computer via an USB cable, it will be breeze. 4. Supposedly these printers will automatically shut down after 2, 4, or 8 hours. There is no option to simply keep it in sleep mode until it is needed again. That's a pain. However, I saw comments stating that not all shut down, and mine seems to be among them. Problem solved! 5. My unit came with a toner cartridge already in stalled. 6. Prices on Amazon fluctuate wildly. The first one I ordered was $272, was not charged tax; not eligible for Amazon Prime. The second one was $251, charged tax; eligible for Prime. A third one I saw just now is only $181, no tax charged; with Prime. Wait long enough, and maybe they'll send one for free ;)

Remote Users -- Universal Print Drivers by HP is the Answer
Fast is my descriptive word for this printer. And, I'm very happy with with print quality too. But best of all, it passed through during a remote session. I work via remote connection, and I was having a lot of trouble getting my Brother printer to pass-through. After talking to a very experienced tech, I purchased an HP to solve the problem. HP offers "Universal Print Drivers" which makes working with printers a lot easier. When I got this HP, I set it up on my laptop and it passed-through with the print driver that came with the printer--it was a breeze. But, my desk-top computer did not cooperate as easily. The packaged print driver did not work. We then tried the Universal Print Driver (took us two tries) and it worked. I've been remotely connecting every day since I got it about 2 weeks ago and it passes through every time. After struggling with the Brother printer for 3 months with this issue (sometimes it would pass through, sometimes it would not), I'm so happy that I got an HP. Note: The pass-through issues wasn't due to the printer, I'm sure it's a computer issue that I just wasn't able to figure out.

Good printer. Remember it’s 110V.
The printer was pretty good. I recommend this. Only thing was I had to use a step down transformer since I use 230V power supply. Also there was a slight damage to the product which I believe happened during delivery. Apart from that, I love this printer.

HP Printers comes with another winner. Great for all your office management needs.
When my HP LaserJet P2035 wasn't working reliably after a lot of hard use, I did my research and went with this M402n. It is fast, doesn't stay hot like some others and works great for the office. I mainly use this printer for printing checks from QuickBooks. The secondary paper input feature was hard to find but this LaserJet met all my needs and works well. Many of the others out there have a pass-through slot for thick media, envelopes, etc. Which is an annoyance as you have to feed each page through when you want to use it. This one has a flip-down tray that holds a stack. I usually put 10 checks on there when paying out invoices and it works great. The many bonus features are fantastic as well I just don't use this printer for that stuff. Printing out PDFs, word documents, excel spreadsheets and checks are its only use for me. High page count print jobs and any colorless document for that matter, this LaserJet is the best bang for your buck. My last one worked great and after some TLC i managed to get it back going and am able to spread out the uses for each. Hewlett-Packard develop some of the best printers on the market today and if you are looking for a monochrome LaserJet, look no further as this one is awesome. I did all my research and the M400 series are fantastic. Update
