Looks real
It looks like a real tree. It’s a little hard to put together but sits only three pieces and a base. The two bottom ones had to be hammered together because the hole wasn’t wide enough. The top piece just kind of spins around and wobbblws, but it seemed like the metal pole holding it together was long enough to not fall out of the section below it at least. I got this on sale at about one hun dred total, if it was more than that, it wouldn’t be a good value. The branches might not hold real heavy ornaments but i didn’t test it because we only have plastic ones.Overall, it’s pretty good. It looks real, went back into the box it came from for storage, and served it’s purpose.

Challenges worth it -would purchase again
As others had experienced, the tree did not go together easily. We had to wear away part of the wood more to get the metal pole to insert completely. It did shed a decent amount of needles and the little twigs do break easily. It didnt look like much at first and we were uncertain if the branches would be sturdy enough for some of our heavier blown glass ornaments, but once on and the flexible bits adjusted, it seems to be doing well. It is a little shorter than I expected and feels a little punier than I had ideally wanted, but I boosted it up by placing it on a riser (square plastic storage box) inside of a large wicker basket and now I am very pleased with the effect. The overall effect is what I was looking for and I do not regret the purchase. Appreciate others reviews that lined out some of their challenges so I wasn't surprised to encounter them myself. I purposely chose an unlit tree as my last tree purchase was lit and the lights going out was the death of it and drive me nuts trying to troubleshoot and fix. Now we can choose different light types based on our preferences and if a strand goes out we can easily replace it.

Lots of mixed reviews- here is why:
Ordered this tree: Normally I would get a 9ft real fraiser fur. But I needed something for a unique space (thin), so I decided to try an artificial tree for this years executive christmas party. It came in 4 pieces: base and three 'tree' parts. The top piece had no hole- so I needed to drill it myself- im a DIY'r so no issue there. Here is what I added:2 strings of lights, 1 spool of ribbon, ornaments.I am very pleased with this tree, the branches even hold my enormous decorative ornaments (which is no easy task). I like that it can put to together quickly and now only need a fraction of decorative items as before. I was even able to bend branches to make it even narrower (pencil tree) to fit in the corner.I saw someone say 'the twigs are ugly'.... this is an elevated design. White trash may not like the pine cones and twigs, but the rest of us love them. I gave it one less star because it says 'light included' and on other area of the description it does not list 'lights' (consistency is key), I had to drill my own hole in the top piece and it is a bit wobbly.... make sure you dont have a 'tree climbing cat'.

Beautiful -- but BE WARNED!
Tired of paying rising costs for real trees in NYC (5 ft Frasier goes for around $70), this is my first artificial tree ever. And I love it! I always bought the thinnest tree on the lot because I like to hang ornaments from trunk to tip. Even then, I often had to prune out excessive limbs to make that possible. So this one looked like a decent substitute. Why do I WARN you? This tree comes in a small box, too small in fact. Remember those compactor machines that junk yards used for scrap cars, the ones that compress a vehicle into a small rectangular box? I think the Chinese use something similar to smash this tree to fit in its entirely too small box. Or someone showed up at work really angry and took it out on these trees in the shipping department. I spent nearly three hours loosening and fluffing all the branches. I have to say there are AT LEAST 741 tips. You will have to handle each and every one -- unfolding, straightening, bending, loosening. I would have gladly paid an extra $15 for a larger, less restrictive box.In fact, now that I'm done with it, there's no way I'll want to force it back in the box. Sure, I will bend the branches up to fit into a bag so I don't have to store it "display-ready," but there's no way I'll go thru this process again. That's why I took off one star.Bottom line, this tree actually exceeded my expectations in terms of naturalness. It's still a little too full, but it looks absolutely real. When I sent a friend the attached pic, they didn't believe me when I said it's artificial. However, I agree with one reviewer who wrote that there are a few too many pinecones and grapevine elements. Removing those is another chore, as they are wired to withstand a hurricane! Summary: the tree looks great. Just make sure you have time to "bring it to life"!!

Excellent compact lifelike tree
I wanted a really lifelike tree but I didn't want a gargantuan monster that takes half a day and a degree in engineering to put together. Enter the Vickerman Ashland Christmas tree! This little beauty is extremely life like and comes complete with twigs and pine cones which really add to its lifelike appearance. The needles and branches are also extremely lifelike and realistic. I will have to say, however; that this tree comes in a VERY small, tightly packed box. As another commenter said, be prepared to handle each and every single branch as you unbend and fluff out the tree for the first time. Unless you're a sadomasochist, you won't try to put this tree back in the original box at the end of the season. I highly recommend a bag! The tree is a breeze to assemble. There are only two parts: The main trunk (which also looks real) and the pointed top piece which easily slides into the main trunk. This tree looks gorgeous once decorated and hardly takes up any space in a small room while still dominating the room with its realistic and festive presence. Four strands of 100 ct lights will fully pack this tree if you like a lot of lights as I do but two strands should work fine for those who have more subtle tastes. You won't be disappointed in the Vickerman Ashland tree. Highly recommended!
