I bought this for my 2 year old son. We love this train set and the expansion tracks are a must. Once you buy the short curves you can make any track layout you want. This is something the whole family plays with. I would recommend it to anyone!

I had purchased a wooden track that just went in an oval, seen this on line and purchased along with other sizes and shaped tracks. My children love it now as can make so many varied routes. The tracks are durable and fit with different makes of wooden tracks.

It is amazing that a small addition of these bits of track has made to the wooden track that we already had as a set

As indicated, these are probably the most useful extra pieces to have in a train set; I definitely recommend them over long curves, as a means to connect and close awkwardly-shaped loops.
