Grizzly IndustrialG0814X - 6" Jointer W/Stand & V-Helical Cutterhead

I looked long and hard for a used jointer but most of them were WELL used and it was hard to find a nice unit. The ones I did find were pretty expensive for a 5-10 year old unit so I decided to invest a few hundred more and get my own new machine. I did a lot of research before purchasing this particular jointer. The helical cutter head sold me. The delivery was easy and everything arrived intact. The hardest part was cleaning the preservative off the bed. After assembly I checked for squareness/level etc. and it was already set correctly. I've put @20 hours on it now and I wonder how I lived this long without it. I would certainly recommend.

The belt tension and pulley alignment are very difficult to adjust, if you can get to it. And if you don't get it just right the jointer has a nasty vibration.

Does what it supposed to when you need it.

The media could not be loaded.  when installing the motor i found it very difficult to adjust the belt tension and pulley alignment. i am still unhappy with the alignment and am going to try and shim the motor and see if i can correct the alignment. so far the jointer is vibrating excessively.i have been on the phone with grizzly tech support. so far they have suggested replacing the belt. i don't think that is the issue. i sent them a couple of videos so they could see how much the jointer vibrates. sad to say but my old craftsman jointer ran significantly better. i hope grizzly is able to resolve this problem. so far they have been responsive.update:after several phone consultations with grizzly tech support and trying their recommended repairs/adjustments, the jointer continues to have an unacceptable vibration and wobble. the bed of the jointer vibrates so much that it is extremely difficult to hold a board steady when passing it through the cutter head. (see video)right now i am thinking i got a bad machine or the design of the motor mount on this unit causes the machine to vibrate and wobble at an unacceptable level. it is disappointing that grizzly tech support seems to be at a loss as to how to fix this problem. needless to say i am not happy with this machine at all.update:got a call from grizzly tech this morning regarding this jointer. they have agreed to a return since the problem of vibration is not explainable after all of the 'fixes' that grizzly tech suggested and tried in order to correct the problem.i am glad they evaluated my request and made the decision which will allow me to return the machine for a different model.matt j.matt j.
