Wonderful, step by step guide to developing Pop Up paper effects
I'm a life-long fan of popup books. In the late 1950s, an uncle who had served in Japan brought home some amazing Japanese pop up books and as a pre-schooler, I was hooked! I've loved to read them to my kids as a parent and collect them, to this day, for reading to next generations. My wife and I both enjoy craft projects, when we have the time, and working with card stock in creating unusual, eye-catching materials is something we enjoy -- and that people who are on the receiving end seem to enjoy as well. That's the background. We have supplies around the house, already, like various kinds of card stock, a complete set of craft knives, cutting boards, etc. This book, then is a perfect, step-by-step orientation to turning card stock into three-dimensional pop ups, starting with very basic shapes and, by the end of the book, graduating into super-cool constructions. There are other books offered on Amazon claiming to offer the same introduction -- and my wife and I have a couple of the other books, as well. Some are morel colorful than this book. Some seem to be more fun to explore. But for someone who seriously wants to be producing these ingenious crafts, this is a very solid book. Step by step. Charts you can easily replicate on your own desk or work table. A logical progression of how the effects are generated. If our experience sounds like your expectation, then this is a great choice for you.

Great Instructions for folding
I have enjoyed this book. I am new to book making but so many handmade books use interesting folded pages. This book has some really great pages with good instructions as well as diagrams. There is even a supply list of papers for using. Great purchase for me as I like to make paper books and fill with watercolor or calligraphy.

This is an elegant analysis of the pop-up genre.
This excellent book undertakes to analyze the results of choosing some cutting and folding choices made for 90 degree pop-ups. I found that some of his simpler designs worked better for me than the more complicated ones I have seen elsewhere. Jackson's analyses of the choices of cut and fold options are classic. This book is intended for 90 degree pop-ups, not for 180 degree pop-ups.

Good but not digital
Great patterns but it is too bad that they didn’t come with a CD

Pop up designs won't have secrets for you anymore
The entire series of books from Paul Jackson is absolutely fabulous. The cut and fold techniques for Pup-up designs one is a great example. Pop ups won't have any secrets for you anymore. The bases are told for you to create your own designs. Graphic and products designers and architects are mostly the ones targeted for this book.

Great book for pop up designs, but not what I was looking for.
I expected the book to be a little more related to architecture. I guess I shouldn't give it such a harsh review because it says it is for pop up designs and I was trying to use it for architectural purposes. It has very cool interesting shapes and things you can do with it but I did not find anything I could use for making models with. I just completed my first model for architectural drafting school and wanted to implement some of these pop up designs but since I am a beginner it was hard. Maybe someone with more experience and creativity might be able to do so. I would not recommend buying this book if you are looking for architectural model inspiration, but I would recommend it if you are looking for interesting pop designs or are into making cool paper things. The shipping and quality of the book were great.

Another great Paul Jackson book
well, I'll be busy for a while! I got a set of 5x8 index cards, have started at the beginning and am moving through the book. I can tell I will have a better understanding of the complexities of the structures, I do already.VERY easy to follow and make samples, and I LOVE the simple geometric popups.
