Good heater. I recommend. ;-)
I got this to heat up my 30'x20' garage. I have 2x6 walls and good insulated garage doors. The celing is 11 feet high. It will bring it up to 70 degrees from 40 degrees in less than 1 hour at 28 degrees outside. I have two wall mounted isolating fans that run through the auxiliary switch on the contactor that I put in so that I don't fry my thermostat. The fans help dry and circulate the warm air better. At $.13/kilowatt hour this heater costs about $1.00 per hour to run. For me it is worth having because I keep my garage at 40 degrees normally and 65 or 70 when I go hang out in there so it doesn't run a lot unless I'm in there. (I also have solar) but to install a propane furnace would have been more upfront cost and I am an electrician so Inwould have had to pay someone to put the furnace in. Two more things, it is worth having it installed correctly (professionally) so that there does not have to be worries about danger and lastly, I have used it for about 3 months and absolutely no problems at all. Seems to be good quality

Built very well, Absolutely great unit
This is truly a great unit. The metal work on this unit is absolutely great. The electrical details are also very impressive. The overall design is that of an actual furnace as opposed to being a cheap heater. The heating element heats well but does not glow. This is preferable as a well made element like this that has large fins will last longer. The motor was also a great sight to behold when I opened the box. It is an actual enclosed motor, not the typical open frame type that clogs with dust. It would that a couple pages to outline every detail that is good about this heater and the design of it.

Heats well.
This heats my 576 sq ft insulated garage well. It heated my garage space 12 degrees from 54F to 66F in 30 minutes. I hung it from the ceiling. It is a fairly compact unit. It came with no connecting power wires, you have to supply that yourself which is annoying if you live out in the boonies like me, you will not be able to install the unit until you purchase some connecting hardware. The amber power light stays on all the time unless you switch it off at the breaker. To me that is not a particularly smart design. The idea of a power light is to remind you to turn off the thermostat when you leave the room and that the unit is switched on. Well, it never goes off. Minor, but it will probably eventually burn out because it is on all the time. The only way to turn it off is to turn off the breaker.Bottom line..heats well.

Works perfect!
Works like a charm! I installed this with 8 gauge 3 wire Romex. I have a 30 amp double pole breaker and it is able to run on that. I did have a 20 amp and after long periods of running on the low setting it would trip the breaker so I installed the 30amp and have not had a problem ever since. I have not used it on the high power setting for long due to the wiring going to the garage, but the short time I did try it the circuit breaker did not trip. I have a one and a half car garage that is uninsulated and it is able to keep the garage at 75 or 80 without working too hard. The temperature outside was 30 degrees when I did this while painting something. My main use for it is to keep the garage above freezing and then pump it up while working and I believe that heater will do just fine. I will say the blower fan does not run after it turns off to cool the unit down ever. Not sure if I do not get the unit hot enough or if it is a new design feature.

Not sufficient for rapidly heating garage
Purchased product based on other people's reviews that indicated it worked quickly to heat garages. However, my experience was that it does a very poor job of heating a 625 sq.ft. garage. With 40 degree starting temperature, it only raised temperature 2-3 degrees after 1-1/4 hours, essentially meaning it would need to be operating all the time to gradually raise the temperature or be worthless for intermittent use. I did check the amp draw on both legs and they were consistent with the specs. for the high setting, so the unit was operating correctly. I returned it and purchased a radiant kerosene heater with a greater BTU rating.Contrary to what others have indicated, the unit did operate with a delay before the fan turned (to allow the heater element to heat up) and the fan continuing to run to cool the heater before turning off. The unit is well made, has good instructions and includes all mounting parts. But a 25-27K BTU heater is not sufficient to heat a garage or work area unless it is going to be left on all the time. And that would be expensive.
