Intermediate Guide to Aerial Silk

I love the book
I love the book, with the description and it reminds me of my Stott Pilates manuals! I use it to train when I am by myself, and go through all it all, to repeat many times and work on the details!Jill is a great teacher, and example, with great form and good progressions. Too often people want to do to complicated things without having a proper basis.I do train with a great teacher, and with other silk athletes, but many times I prefer to train by myself and use it as my guide!Thank you Jill! I have looked into one of your teacher course trainings, but I might wait a little bit more with that! Please check out my the Pilates on the SUP manual i wrote!SUP PILATES: Beginner and Intermediate level, part 1

Well organized book
I think this book is really well written. I will admit i actually knew like 90% of what the book contained which was a little disappointing for me trying to increase my skill set. But, on the other hand, I now have a well written list of moves that I can utilize for instruction purposes.

Pictures Are Black and White
Photos that are demonstrating skills are black in white. Otherwise I would give 5 stars. It is misleading that the beginners skills book has colored demonstrations, but the intermediate book is in black and white.

Step by step guide
I love this book, using it as a alternative for keeping a book of what I have done in aerial. Great step by step guide. This is not intended to be a self taught book.

A little too beginner
This book really begins with the beginner content that you learn in the first ten hours of proper training. Although it includes a drop and multiple climb styles, I was expecting more challenging content. The information is useful, but it wasn't exactly what I was after. As with anything in circus, there is a concern over liability, and then there's the adage that you always hold a little bit back to keep the audience wanting more. The book itself is of high quality, well-edited, and the illustrations and visuals are suitable and numerous. The best book ever written about circus is your own training journal.

Five Stars
Currently beyond my skill level but helps me understand the reason for the basics.

Very, VERY beginner, TINY book. USELESS
Instructor here. I purchased this in the search for inspiration for my classes, reminding myself of some intermediary skills and maybe some good illustrations to share with my students. This book is so bad, it is not funny. So bad I am shocked. 95 % covers things my level 1 students can do. It covers things as basic as basic climbs, russian climb, figure 8 footlock, candy cane (also known as the flying Dutchman)... pages and pages on extreeeeemely BASIC skills, some of which my ABC (intro) students can do! It is insulting at this point. The most advanced moves ? Windmill down, straddle climb and flag (the only intermediate skill in the whole book). Oh wait, at the very end the author gives meathooks as a conditioning exercise!!! Considering how extremely beginner the rest of the book is, giving meat hooks is irresponsible! Meat hooks are a complex movement, that can put extreme stress on the shoulder if not executed properly. It is almost guaranteeing beginners will injure themselves. Unreal.Very small too. Roughly a 100 pages with lots of gaps and blank spaces... truly this book is empty. You can tell the author was stretching her "work" really thin. Only by page 71 do you finally get to talk about "Wraps and tricks"... only to spend pages on crossback and hipkey... I just can't. This is so shameful.I cannot express how bad this is. Fraudulent is the adjective that comes to mind. The paper quality is terrible as well!!! Newspaper thin, only black and white. Absolute waste of my hard-earned dollars. I still get shocked at what gets printed nowadays, but this takes the cake (for this week at least). I would not trust anything this author writes. There is a beginner version of this book!!!! What's in it?! Contemplating the fabric? We clearly do not have the same definition of what intermediate means. And what an aerial book should contain. There is nothing of use in this for me. At all.Unless you are a complete total beginner who has never touched a silk in their lives, don't purchase this "book". Only mildly useful if you have no clue what silks are and want to take a look. But hey, if this is your case... Get in an aerial class, that'll be far far more useful than this.So so disappointed.

No color... but the best amazon book, of the aerial amazon books
No color for the intermediate edition is kinda lame. They are both have well laid out easy to follow instructions. If I was picking trying to narrow down which ones on amazon to get, the ones by Jill would be the ones. You could skip the beginner guide if you have previous instruction... but it's nice to have to show any friends who might be new for reference, and there are some key fundamentals in there. They are way more polished than the Beginner Aerial Silks Pose Guide by Sam Mellor, which has weirdly large lettering, varied font sizes everywhere, spelling errors and is a little overwhelming to hold because of the size. I would still pick this up later down the road when the books by Jill have been exhausted. The Applied Anatomy of Aerial Arts is the nicest cleanest book of all the amazon books and has really amazing information about tests and muscle adjustment, but the least helpful with you want to get to the dirt of how to do the moves as a beginner. This is more of a bedtime read than something you bring when you are actively trying to do the activity.

Figuras paso a paso bien explicadas. Mucha información. 100% recomendable
