I purchased this & 2 other amino acids because I read that our body stops producing them as we age. I've only been taking them a short time, but I feel they are helping. I feel better & more energetic. It's not a huge difference, but enough so that I can tell.

Seem to work fine...great for people who get alot of cold sores.

Lysine keeps me from having cold sores. Have taken it everyday for 35 years. Used to always have one, but no more when I started taking this.

This is the second time I've received this product through subscribe and save that it's been expired. Last time I only noticed because the tablets were yellow. I didn't want to go through the hassle of returning because I thought it was a fluke. This time I got another expired bottle. It's too much trouble to return just to see if the replacement will have a valid date so I'll just purchase elsewhere.

L-lysine is an essential amino acid, meaning your body can't make it and NEEDS it. the most common dietary source is meat. However, for us vegetarians a supplement is a good idea. I wanted it for general health. Some of the benefits: It helps production of other proteins like enzymes, antibodies and hormones; helps prevent osteoporosis ; helps convert fatty acids to energy, helps lower bad cholesterol levels, thus reducing the risk for heart disease. May be used to treat viral infections like herpes simplex, cold sores, shingles, When taken with vitamin C, it may reduce angina. I am not giving 5 stars because there should be another warning : it can have toxic interactions with some antibiotics. I love that this is made in the USA, it has the food allergen processing plant warning (milk, soy, wheat, egg, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish) . I purchased the L-lysine at quite a discount for the opportunity to try it and provide my opinion. I hope this information is useful to you.

** I PAID REGULAR PRICE FOR THESE** I just received these today and took one. After taking it, I noticed the list of "Other Ingredients". I'm not happy about how many other ingredients ( 9 ) are in this product. Normally I check for these types of things, but I missed this one! I literally googled just about all of them. And the first ingredient is Microcrystalline cellulose is a term for refined wood pulp and is used as a texturizer, an anti-caking agent, a fat substitute, an emulsifier, an extender, and a bulking agent in food production. The ingredient is popular in use, but unless it goes by another name, other brands did not use this as well as some of the other things listed. After looking at other brands and labels, I will be returning these. I compared a few other labels and some had 2-3 "Other ingredients", not (9) I want L-Lysine, not so many other things. Personal preference for putting the least amount of "other stuff" in my body.

Really helped as part of my shingles routine. I will continue to use it and suggest everyone buy it and keep on hand for pesky problems with virus conditions......such as sores on your lip.
