Not working yet...
After a couple days of troubleshooting and testing firmware settings, I'm still not seeing any graphics on the LCD screen. It may be a firmware setting that I'm still missing, but my Marlin / Reprap 3d printer was supposedly plug-and-play with this. I'm not the only buyer having troubles with a blank screen. I'm going to dig into this a bit more but if I can't get it working, I'll have to return the item. It would be a shame to return a working product because I missed a firmware setting, but this item came with absolutely no link to tech support and no documentation with the packaging.Update: Yes, it was a firmware setting. Modifying the configuration.h file to de-comment the ..._full_graphics line was the trick - now it works like a champ. 4 stars, not 5, because of a lack of instructions but otherwise good.

I can't recomend
Mine came nonfunctional, square outline glows on screen and nothing more. Return is impossible because the two jumper leads that are included were manufactured incorrectly and I had to remove the alignment tabs to even find out it does not work. Convenient circumstance for the seller. Guess its not the sellers problem, all these 12864's come from the same place. I can't recommend this item, some people rave about it. It's like a roll of the dice when it comes to low dollar, trash electronics. Do you ever really win?It is required to select at minimum of one star.

No documentation comes with this product, I think there may be some available on-line but I have never seen it. When I first tried the device the back-light came on but there were no characters visible on the LCD. At first I thought it was defective. I discovered that there is a tiny circular control about 2 mm in diameter on the back, just above the SD card slot. It is a Brightness control and turning it clockwise with a jeweler's screwdriver caused the characters to light up. The manufacturer left the control so that the characters were not immediately visible.

Ok for hobby useHad 1 DOA and another burn out after less than 1 hour connected to a DVD type stepper motor with the current limiting set to 300ma. Installed on a Rostock Max Delta printer. After calibration, the head seems to get to temp super fast, and can stay a temp (I was having trouble keeping temp when the fans kicked on any higher than 20%). These replaced the stock heaters in the stock hotend. This is the second upgrade to the machine (adding more cooling fans, hence more difficulty with the cooling factor). I had a print adhere too well and busted the plate on removal. Can't wait to keep printing.

Great for using in my wanhao duplicator i3 as a heating element replacement. My observations show the temperatures to be stable to within +/- 2 Celsius.
