Koolertron 5.0 inch Handheld Portable Video Digital Magnifier Mobile Electronic Reading Aid with Multiple Color Modes, Rechargeable Battery Powered, Freeze etc

This is my fourth magnifier. The first two stopped working in less than two years. No. 3 still works ok and the Koolertron was intended to be a backup for that. But, at one third of the price, the Koolertron outperforms it. It has a sharper display, more features, feels solid without being heavy and is simple and convenient to use. So, no. 3 has been demoted to backup and the Koolertron is definitely my no. 1 and would have no reservations in recommending it to anyone. It is the best buy I know of.

I bought this for a friend who is losing his vision. He takes this everywhere! I even had to make him a special pouch for it. He can now read menus easily and price tags and any other close reading tasks. It has been a very useful tool for him.

Excellent and affordable device to assist people with low, near vision problems. Easy to operation and allows for reverse contrast viewing at the user's discretion.

If you are looking for an electron microscope this is great. If you need it to read you probably should pass. It has to sit directly on top of what you are reading. At that range 4x is pretty significant magnification. Don’t know when you would ever use even 10x let alone 32x. The depth of field is very shallow so if you lift it even the slightest you lose focus. You’d be better off buying an old iPhone or other device and just using the camera set on zoom. You would get a clearer image and greater depth of field. Couldn’t imagine trying to read a full page of text with this. It was a decent effort on the manufacturers part so I won’t be returning it, but I think you’d be better off with a lamp and decent magnifying glass.

Not aware of how typical my situation was / is that motivated urgency in getting it, but it was a valued and very useful item to get.And, I still welcome having it when occasionally finding it useful. In its own way, a marvelous device.If asked would I buy one like it again - Yes, but not sure if I would be brand loyal vs shopping and or trying out a different one.Disappointments / frustrations with it ...... within the first hour I managed to put the 1st scratch on the lens from being dopey in figuring out how to remove / relase the handle ...... the charge life and or consistency seems variable and annoying, thought the USB ability works well while running it with paperwork while at the PC... in general, one has to have a steady hand otherwise it is awkward to use like when reading across a page - for one, the little legs get caught on the edgesCompared to other electronic gizmos and items perhaps more mass produced and generally on the market, I would be inclined to still think it is a bit pricey for what one gets. If one keeps that in perspective, it more becomes a matter of a priority in who what where when why how.Long short, situation as it was a year ago, and having it now almost a year later, I do not regret my purchase despite having to swallow hard with the price.

I bought this for a friend who has failing eyesight. He has had trouble for some time and couldn’t read hardly at all. With this digital magnifier, he says things are so much easier to read. He actually uses it to read books he couldn’t read before. This is a great device and a wonderful help for those with failing eyesight.

Item has flaws in the operation. The selection buttons (contacts) operate intermittently and the unit itself does not provide all of the color schemes stated. Provides challenging operation for a sighted individual, near impossible for someone visually challenged.

Bought for my 90yr old mother who also has macular degeneration and ended up having to return the device cause she needed to have the font size so large that not one entire word would fit on the screen & therefore she was not able to follow the sentence or figure out where she was on the page.Great idea and absolutely loved the device but it wouldn't have worked for my mom.The seller is easy to deal with and returned the device no problem.Would recommend this seller & device to anyone needing reading assistance visually impaired to see other things.

This Portable Digital Magnifier arrived as outlined on the internet. I only had it so far for one Week - of course you have to learn and get used to its operation .The Magnification starts with 4 X to 32 X . For me- the magnification should start with 2 X magnification - as you would have more to read without moving the Magnifier. Otherwise - I am pleased with its Operation .It provides plenty of Options - more than I require -as my requirement is to read small print. I researched just about all the Digital Magnifiers on the internet - this Unit stood out for all its options and Price. Yes -- I would Purchase it again. Gene

The one i originally ordered was discontinued and they replaced wiht a different one. Updated. Difficult to read the instructions, you need a magnifier. Missing the memory card. No autofocus. Only works if you are really close or really far away. Forget small print at a distance. Anything in between and you lose focus. Try to read anything glossy and the near light reflects on the page. You cannot turn it off.
