Amazing purchase that will up your audio quality tenfold.
Initial thoughts: All I have to say is WOW. Six-foot cable, connects via USB-C, and it has an amazingly flexible braided cord. The cable is a bit fatter than most lavalier mics I’ve used in the past, but that can be expected because of the braided sheathe. It has a standard alligator clip to clip it to your shirt or jacket or whatever. This would be the only point of failure that I would be concerned about as it appears that the clip is molded around the mic itself and might not be able to be replaced should the plastic fail.Use: Hooks in well and fairly solid. I hooked it into the camera while it was strapped to the side view mirror and rolled the window up, slightly pinching the cord and it stayed connected. The audio quality is markedly improved and the wind noise reduction is well worth the price tag. It’s a microphone that drastically improves the audio quality in a great action camera.I sincerely recommend spending the money, especially if you want to put the camera in a windy environment and run audio to a non-windy place.

Very good value but a few improvements would make it excellent
I was looking at the Hero series but thought they were too expensive for a device that I would not use that often (action photography & video). So I looked around and found that this company, AKASO, makes a whole series of these cameras. Reviews were quite good and you can even find YouTube reviews and comparisons. So I purchased the best model that had an external microphone and could do 4K video at 30fps. So far, I haven't used it that much given that it is winter and COVID is preventing travel, but some video that I did take looked good. From what I can see, the camera has a lot of capabilities and I can't wait to try them out. My only two gripes are these. (1) you can't get audio when you have the waterproof case on the camera. I knew this ahead of time because the reviews definitely said that you can't attach the external mike when the protective case is attached, but it would be nice if future cameras would get around this limitation. (2) While the camera comes with plenty of accessories, the documentation is very limited on how to attach your camera using these accessories. There are some cryptic graphics but I find them inadequate. This is also something that could be cured easily by expanding the documentation, even if only digitally at their website.

Can not really get any better for the price...
I can't see any mic being better for the price; then again, if you use an Akaso camera, you have no other choice (which is why this is a 3-star and not a 5-star).The audio quality is quite impressive for a sub-$15 mic. If this mic worked on all Akaso products when implementing an adapter, this could be a 5-star rating. The real issue is that Akaso purposely blocks products from working because they want you to buy their products, not someone else's.Back to the product in question, as earlier mentioned, the audio quality is excellent, the clip has quite the grip, the cable is perfectly lengthed, and the price is VERY fairly matched. If you have an Akaso action camera with a USB-C port, this is a great addition to increase your audio quality. It is much better than the built-in mic and significantly mutes the wind compared to the built-in mic.

This seems a great value for a remote microphone.
This microphone worked well on my first use of it. I wish it was a bit smaller as there’s not much room inside my helmet for a microphone that said, I eventually found a spot where I could tuck it in partially under my helmet liner, but I have not had a chance to try it yet for audio quality, so we shall see. Overall pleased with it, and I am not a huge fan of the braided wire because it makes the wire less flexible and more difficult to coil up. That said, I’m hoping the braided aspect of the microphone wire in the long run, makes the wire more durable . Remains to be seen.

Don’t buy
This mic is a55 don’t waist your money. It peaks when youre “too close” but then it doesn’t really pick you up if you go further away then all you can hear is hissing.

Not a good buy
This stops working after a month of having it..this was disappointing. I know there was videos about the camera having audio issues and how this mic fixes that but it didn't last long at all. I wanted it for vlogging and it failed me.
