You should be able to fit your books, laptop and lunch in this bag with room to spare. I use the side pouch to hold a water bottle. The buckles are weak, and once my shoulder strap buckle un-snapped and my bag fell to the ground breaking my water bottle. I fixed this by attaching wire ties around the buckle. Note that you can not unbuckle unless you cut the wire ties, but I do not see why you would have to unbuckle so often. See picture of fix. Otherwise it is one of the better bags I have owned.

Got this bag for our emergency 72 hour kit. Has lots of space for everything we need. Love the detachable pouches. Personally do not love that all the webbing is not double backed at the end and often comes off the strap when trying to loosen. It is annoying to have to re-thread it.Initially we were sent the wrong color, but the seller was quick to fix the problem.Overall very pleased with the purchase as it will suit our needs. Not sure how it would stand up to long term, consistent use, but to sit in the back of our car it will last a long time.

This seems to be a well-made item.The bag itself is heavy, before filling. It has 3.5-4 internal compartments, 3 detachable bags, and a strap that can be worn as a belt or over the shoulder.We haven't really put anything in them yet, so I may need to upvote it downgrade my review.I got these so the kids could have ice bags and go camping this summer.

To be honest I was a little skeptical based off the reviews since they’re rather mixed but I bought it never the less, it’s good and useful since I recently started backpacking with my gf ignore the reviews buy it, it’s good

I bought this for my Son. He chose it. He was not disappointed. He was very pleased with it and couldn't believe how much it would hold.He left to return home, (New Hampshire), this morning and proudly displayed it.

Light use pack buckles look and feel a bit weak not a lot of padding on shoulder straps velcro for side molly pockets feel weak material feels a bit weak will leak over all 4/10

Just great. Full of space in different compartments and fully adjustable
