I purchased the soft cover version of this book several years ago and lost it in a storage auction. I purchased it because I've been a mob fanatic since I was a child and have followed all of the old and new Gangster movies, chronicles and T.V. shows. I was also writing a screenplay and needed this encyclopedia to help with my research. Amazon and it's wonderful "We think you might like this" based on my past searches recommended MY BOOK! I hadn't thought about this book since I lost it and it brought me a whole new level of joy to see that it was still in print! I couldn't afford the brand new soft cover, but I was thrilled that a "gently used" hard cover was available. It arrived in excellent condition. A little discoloration from age but that wasn't an issue at all. I'm so happy with my purchase.

Covers a lot of ground. You get something on the vast majority of the top guys over the years. The only negative would be depth for most of the entries. Only the most well known have any kind of depth. Good one for your library. Recommended.

Excellent book. It is paperback. It is just like my other encyclopedia except the information is specialized. It is full of great information and a few pictures as well. I bought this for my husband who loves it. I use it as reference when doing some family research.
