Good product, best when mixed with other flavors
Still best when mixed with other things like in tacos, or chili, or a burger with other toppings... although it's growing on me, so I may not need extra flavors with it soon.I will order this again if price stays reasonable. They came frozen as expected. It came in 5 lb bricks that have vague horizontal divider strips, but we found it easier to partially thaw the large brick in the fridge, then break into 5 ~1 lb pieces vertically (so they form 1 lb square box-like chunks, not flat strips) and refreeze those. This partial thaw and refreeze did not seem to hurt the texture when cooked. Our first attempt to separate them into the pre-indicated long flat strips was a miserable messy failure. This may be confusing if you're not looking at the product, but should make sense once you're looking at it and trying to figure out how to break it into manageable pieces. Also the 1 lb pieces that we made cook up to a bit more than I expected - maybe more like 1.25 lbs? It doesn't shrink as much when cooking as 'normal' burger does.

Closest to beef
I'm a flexitarian, former vegetarian for 10 years. I still try to eat one plant based meal a day at least.Impossible burger tastes good, closest real beef. But the smell sometimes is not great likesulfur, hence the 4 stars.

Amazing alternative to ground meat.
Impossible meat is a great alternative to other ground meat substitutes. It sautes nicely and will even develop a crust when cooked as a patty. Just like ground beef, it needs to be seasoned before it's cooked; even when I ate meat I didn't eat it unseasoned. I've used this in recipes for meatballs, chili, italian meat sauces and asian dishes. My meat-eating family consumes it happily without complaint.I also slightly defrost the 5# blocks then divide vertically into 1# blocks and refreeze.

Smell, wrong. Taste, wrong.
Just tried this for the first time. Cooking it smelled like browning vegetables. Color was brown out of the package. The taste is so far from hamburger I dont know how this made it through R&D.

Impossible burger is disgusting
I decided to try it and bought a package of two. It smells awful in the raw state. Cooking smell is okay. I used a non-stick pan, but the burger stuck to it and I had to spray a little cooking oil on it before I flipped it. I usually eat my regular burgers on the plate with no bun and have been sprinkling a little Flavor God ketchup seasoning on it. I decided to try the Impossible Burger the same way. It doesn’t taste anything like hamburger and the texture is not the same. There is not enough fat to liquefy the ketchup seasoning, so it sits dry on top. It was all I could do finish it and even after putting on some yellow mustard it made me gag and I threw away the last piece. Maybe grilling it on a charcoal grill would give it a better flavor, but that won’t change the texture. Also it might work fine in chili or spaghetti sauce. This is a firm no for me as a burger.

Love it!
Don't let.NeuroAI's review bother you, they're clearly a bot. Probably Russian. This stuff smells, tastes, and cooks damn close to beef. I don't bother buying beef anymore. It's cheaper yes but it shrinks so that quarter pounder never is. Want to try their nuggets and sausage but I can't find it.Give this a try, you'll probably like it as long as you're actually open to the idea. Staunch, old, crusty, folk who are scared of change will call or full of chemicals (water is a chemical) but there's nothing artificial...unlike cows getting daily antibiotics.

Impossible burger is a disgusting product. The smell is just intolerable.
I decided to try it, but it doesn't taste like beef at all. The smell is just terrible.I guess this is the case of false advertising.Do not buy impossible burgers. Do yourself a favor and cook from natural products, not chemically preprocessed ones.
