Reliable Replacement or Spare Ember Coaster
The Ember Charging Coaster 2 is an essential accessory for any Ember mug or cup owner. I use it interchangeably with both my Ember mug and my Ember cup (the one with the handle), as they both share the same compatible charging base.Setup is incredibly straightforward: just plug it into an outlet, place your Ember product on it, and it immediately starts charging. I purchased this as an extra coaster to keep at my office, ensuring my Ember is always ready to go at my workstation. It charges reliably every single time I place my mug on it. I make sure to keep the charging contacts on the bottom of my Ember products clean to maintain optimal connection. While I tend to drink my coffee within a reasonable timeframe, the product claims it can keep the cup charged indefinitely even while actively heating a beverage, which is a great feature for longer sessions. This coaster is the exact same product that originally came with my Ember, so it's a perfect match. Like all Ember products, it's on the pricier side for what it is, but for the convenience and functionality it offers, it's worth it if you need an extra or replacement charger.

Expensive but worth it.
I loved the Ember mug I was gifted but the charging base started going bad after a year or so. Those dang pins! I had no choice but to buy a new base if I wanted to continue using my favorite mug. This new base worked great right out of the box and I’m back to enjoying hot coffee!

Better than 2 mugs
In a one-coffee-drinker household, an extra coaster is a budget-friendly alternative to purchasing two Ember mugs. And it’s more convenient than unplugging your only charger and moving it every time you get thirsty but the cat has your favorite chair.

Great addition for an Ember mug
Perfect addition to having an Ember mug. I can now keep my mug charged and warm in two places. I keep once coaster by my coffee maker and one in the living room where i normally sit.

When the charger doesn't work, neither does the mug. And no customer service.
I purchased an Ember mug/charger directly from Ember a couple of years ago for my wife. The mug works great and she loves it. At some point one of the pins on the charging coaster became depressed into the coaster. I was unable to fix it so I just got on Amazon and bought a new one. Now, within the warranty period, the same thing happened. The inner charging pin has depressed into the charging coaster and it does not work. So this time I got on Ember's web site and looked at support. Ember acknowledges the problem right on their support page. But they are no help. There is no phone number so I emailed them through their web site. I got an automated email in response asking me more questions. I answered them, sent them proof of purchase and hoped for the best. No response. A week later I emailed them again and asked them to get back to me. No response. I responded to an add on Facebook hoping they would see it and want to solve a customer issue. No response. So now I have a product under warranty that does not work and a company that does not care. I'm hoping this review might generate a response, but I am not holding out hope. If I hear from them I will update my comments. If I don't, I will do the same. But for right now, I would not recommend their product because of the company that DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT.UPDATE: Heard back from them the same day I posted this. They wanted pictures of the coaster pins and the serial number on the bottom (which is unreadable). Sent that to them along with what I think of their customer service. Like I'm going to go through this crap for $30? But the mug, when it can charge is awesome. But it's expensive. That's why I am doing this. It's useless without the charger. I will update again when I hear from them next.

Works for about 6 months
I seem to have to replace the charger at about 6 months. I'm on the third one. The pins get stuck down in the charger after a while. My husband loves the mug and uses it all the time.

Ember mug charging coaster failure
Works exactly like the original charging coaster, as it should. The original coaster lasted about two months before the spring loaded charging pins became stuck in the down position, and didn't contact the charging rings on the bottom of the Ember mug. This seems to be a common problem with the charging coaster due to liquid contamination of the charging pins from washing the mug or spillage of contents. Bottom line, never put the Ember mug on the charging coaster unless it is absolutely dry. If a coffee or tea spill has occurred and dampened the bottom of the mug, wash it, dry it with a cloth, and invert the empty cup to let it dry. A few minutes is not enough, a few hours is more like it.

WAIT! YOUR EMBER MUG MIGHT NOT BE BROKEN! IT MIGHT BE YOUR CHARGING COASTER!
MY ACCIDENT - WATER DAMAGEOne day, I left my ember cup on my nightstand with unfinished coffee in it. Somehow, I accidentally knocked it over and liquid accumulated in my charging coaster. The mug stopped working and I assumed that I had broken the entire unit due to my negligence.MISSING CHARGING PINWell, I closely examined the charging coaster and noticed that one of the charging pins was missing. I suppose I wiped it away when I cleaned up the mess. So… I thought it was worth a shot to order another charging coaster to see if that fixed the problem. IT DID FIX THE PROBLEM!!! My ember mug is once again fully functional.PROBLEM FIXED!The moral of this story is: If your mug stops working, closely examine your charging coaster to see if it has sustained damage to the charging pins. A new charging coaster might be the solution to your problem!
