I purchased the Sun Oven 10 years ago and it is still like new.
This is an amazing product. I live in Charleston, SC and we use it once a week in the summer because I don't want to heat the house up for a hot meal. Roast with potatoes and carrots is my favorite. All meat that we have cooked in this is so tender that no knife is necessary. I've cooked pork chops, chicken, hot dogs, steaks and everything is better in the solar oven. I cooked brownies in my solar oven last week and they only lasted an hour. They were delicious. It seems that the afternoon sun is better for solar cooking than the morning sun. If it is cloudy, cook inside because this is not going to work. Be sure that if you have stored it for a while that you clean the reflectors before you start. Once you put this thing in the sun, it starts getting hot and the glare on your eyes is incredible. I suggest wearing sunglasses when you start your cooking adventure. The dog has no interest in this until the food is out of the oven. I usually have to adjust the oven 2 or 3 times to get a faster time for big meals. I have no complaints about this oven and I show it off and cook for friends and family in this thing often.

Omg it works!
It boils!!!!! Yay finally found one that actually does what it says it’s going to. Easy to assemble and rotate with the sun. Don’t forget to take off film protection on panels

Great Oven! Here’s an easy way to make it even better.
We have been cooking on a parabolic oven at our off grid cabin for about 30 years. I surprised her with the All American Sun Oven and she loves it. The large capacity swivel rack works great and the oven is very easy to use. We did the pre use treatment and then started baking right away. It heats up fast and the sights make it easy to correctly aim the oven at the sun. It doesn’t get quite as hot as the parabolic oven but it gets plenty hot to bake just about anything and has lots more room. The adjustable leg on the back works and allows the unit to be lightweight, self contained and very portable. However, we found it cumbersome to use and when fully extended the oven becomes very tippy. I threw together a quick and easy solution that makes height adjustment easy and allows for continuous adjustment and much better stability when extended. See photo. It’s just a couple pieces of plywood with hinges and brackets to hold the oven. I had it made by the time the first batch of biscuits came out. If you don't want to bother with the adjustment mechanism all you need is a piece of 2x4 about 8” long between the plywood sheets and you can achieve any angle by standing it up, laying it down and/or moving it closer and farther away from the hinges.Solar cooking is amazing. The All American Sun Oven is awesome and an excellent choice for longtime solar users like us and It is so easy to use it is great for beginners as well. So far we have made hard boiled eggs with no water, fried bacon, cooked biscuits, baked cookies, and the best baby back ribs I ever tasted.

The American Sun Oven is ideal for emergency preparedness
l live in Florida where hurricanes threaten to take down the power grid from time to time. In 2004 a few hurricanes passed through and we lost power for several days. Since then I've been gradually preparing for another power loss by slowly buying items I will need during a power outage. I'm retired on a fixed income, so I have to prepare slowly and wisely.Yes, I also have propane and wood stoves, but the American Sun Oven is the perfect addition to my inventory of emergency preparedness equipment because all I need for cooking food is the sun! Additionally, it cost little or nothing to operate.I am delighted with the American Sun Oven because it really works. On a sunny day it rapidly reaches 350 - 400 degrees. And, you can easily prepare two loaves of bread and two meals in only a few hours. With the American Sun Oven all I need is the sun. On overcast days I will use my propane stove or my wood stove, but that doesn't happen all that often here in Florida. The American Sun Oven is a quality product. I highly recommend it. If properly cared for, it will last for many years into the future. Here are some common sense recommendations:- Don't try to use the oven on windy days. If you do, the reflectors might wobble or your oven might slide out of alignment.- Before first use, wipe out the oven with vinegar. This will reduce the chances of your first meal tasting a bit metallic or plastic.- If you're a tenderfoot, don't expect the oven to be as convenient as the oven in your kitchen. It takes a little more effort.

A great item to have
This oven is a great way to save energy and avoid heating up your kitchen. If the power goes off you can still cook with this as long as you have the sun. Some reviewers complained about a plastic odor coming from the oven, this can be avoided. The first thing you must do when you get the oven is to put an open container of vinegar inside to steam for several minutes, then wipe the inside clean - then you start baking. We roasted whole sweet potatoes in about 2 hours and beets in about 1.5 hours. Best tasting veggies ever!We also made a favorite banana bread recipe which normally takes 70 minutes to cook in our regular oven at 325 degrees F. The solar oven got to about 320 that day (slightly hazy skies). We put the bread in the oven, turned it slightly beyond where the sun was and left it to bake while we went on a long hike. It was in the oven for about 4 hours. The bread was beautifully baked, super moist and wonderful!Note that this design is not intended for frying or cooking with a pressure cooker. You'll need a parabolic solar cooker for those applications. Anything you can bake, roast or braise will work great in this oven. This is definitely a keeper!
