These hearty Moroccan style pilchards are canned very similar to other more expensive and popular brands. However you will find the spices and olive oil in this tin have been placed there purely for flavor. This isn’t “spicy” like flamin hot. This is a spice blend you can taste that leaves you nice and warm. Some tins may have a few scales, but that is no problem when you consider the flavor and price. Wonderful fish!

I bought these to compare to Nuri's Spiced Sardines which are like the industry standard for quality and value.I think on Amazon these are a bit too expensive and would recommend shelling out the extra dollar for a tin of Nuri's. Currently with 5 sardines for $18 that's $3.60 while Nuris if you buy them in a 10 pack are roughly $4.60. I think these are quite a solid contender against Nuri's if you can find them locally or cheaper. I've purchased them at specific markets for like $2 and at that price I'd be eating them more frequently.On the sardines themselves; they can have the occasional scale so be careful. They aren't the most visually appealing tin but I don't judge a book by its cover. The oil is pretty well flavored but unlike Nuri's I don't think I'd sop it up with bread. It does have a good flavor, I wouldn't say they are too spicy even as a midwesterner. The fish has a pretty good texture and holds together well. They aren't unpleasantly fishy, with a clean smell, and are nicely meaty. I found the cans easy to open but it's very rare for me to meet a tin I have trouble with. Overall they're an above average sardine! I would never turn down a tin of Flower's sardines but if shopping on amazon I would pay the extra $1 a tin and go for Nuri's.

Excellent sardines with slight amount spice. High Quality in olive oil.

Larger sardines than other brands. Well flavored with whole ingredients within can. Such as peppers &.bay leaf.

Light sardine taste, spiced carrots and peppers. Hearty snack, also great with wine and cheese.

Great quality sardines with good spices and flavors. SO MANY SCALES. It's like a can of Nuri but filled with toenails.

I love the spice in this can. The fish is scaley but not horribly so. The olive oil is just ok. Overall pretty decent for a really cheap purchase. The fish are kind of jammed in there and they are the big kind, if that matters. Decent option for the cheap ones.
