Galinstan is a eutectic alloy composed of gallium, indium, and tin. This kit is for 50g of galinstan. The liquid metal is great fun and would make a fantastic gift for anyone interested in metals, elements, chemistry and gadgets. It is conductive and can be used to create “painted circuits”. It wets glass (great for making mirrors) and other materials. Commercially, it is used as a replacement for mercury in liquid-mirror telescopes and in thermometers (due to its non-toxic properties). Galinstan does not contain mercury and is non-toxic. Our galinstan is made from 99.99% (4N) pure elements (66.5% Ga, 20.5% In, 13% Sn). It is liquid above 11C (51.8F) although it can remain liquid at lower temperatures. It comes packaged in an opaque High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE, BPA-free) flat bottomed screw cap bottle with a Polypropylene (PP) cap. We also include a plastic syringe that is useful for removing and replacing the liquid metal in the bottle.
