Fireglass is used in gas fireplaces and fire pits as an alternative to gas logs. Our fireplace glass crystals are made to withstand the heat of a fireplace or fire pit flame. ~1/4" means that the average size is ~1/4". Some pieces can be quite smaller and some can be quite larger, this is typical for all kinds of fireglass. IMPORTANT: Any fireglass on the market can be used only in devices designed by the manufacturer for use with fireglass. (And if it can be used, you need to respect the recommended size of fireglass). Propane burners do not burn as clean as natural gas and can cause discoloration and sooting, so it is recommended to use dark colors with LP propane. The shade/hue of the glass can change dramatically in different sources of light as well as in different colors of surrounding areas, backgrounds, etc. The image of this glass may be distorted by the settings of your viewing screen. !

Beautiful product!
Overall, this was a fantastic experience. The product is beautiful and is exactly as described and shown in the pictures in the description. It sparkles in the light and especially in the flames and looks classy and sophisticated. As another reviewed noted, this is an amazing price, better than ebay or any other online source that I found, and certainly better than my local store (they quoted me $120 for 7 pounds?!?!) I have a gas fireplace and was replacing the old rocks in front of the logs. 20 pounds was the perfect amount for me. The shipping was fast. It came a day earlier than the estimated delivery date. Installation was simple. Remove the old rocks, vacuum up dust/dirt, dump in the new glass and you're done. Already had multiple compliments on the gray color and imagine they are all just as nice. Highly recommended and would buy this product again in a heartbeat!

Nice glass.
Looks great, flames shimmer off the glass shards when the fire is on. The glass edges aren't too rigid, but you should still probably wear gloves when smoothing it out. My local BBQ store charges $75 for a 10 lb. bag, so this product on Amazon was a no-brainer. I put some cheaper volcanic rock pebbles down first, then 30 lb. of this glass on top. It looks very elegant, and everyone who has seen it has loved it. A friend immediately purchased some after seeing our fireplace sparkle.

This works well for my plant stand.
I needed something to help disperse the moisture under my orchids. This looks nice and works well to dress up the drip pans. I was a little disappointed in the number of small shards included and worry about tipping the stand over and having glass all over the floor. Next time I will order the round pieces for an aquarium, not these rough edged pieces.

Dazzling
This is a wonderful alternative to conventional fireplace logs or stones. The glass really has a sleek and contemporary look. I have a medium size fireplace and it took approximately 50 lbs for desired coverage. Wonderfully satisfied with this product!

Fire Pit Glass
For the ducats spent, this product is very good.I have 3 fire pits and this glass works great in all of them.I picked this color as it tends not to show the soot, that eventually gets on the glass.This company had the least expensive glass of any I saw on the web after 2 years of searching.

great look
the item looks great in my firepit table. i ordered black but i wish i would have gotten a different color cause my table is black. but they look great. i even placed the rest that was in the back in candle holders and flower vases to add to the decoration.

Beautiful glass
Beautiful glass. This glass looks perfect in our new gas fireplace and the price was much lower than others we found. And10 lbs was the perfect amount to surround the flame and reflect the light.

Looks good, works in my fire pit
Not much else to say. It's glass, polished enough so it won't cut your hands. I have it in my gas fire pit in my backyard and it creates a good look.
