I've always been an anime fan before manga, but I love the amazing Fairy Tail series so much that I wanted to start reading it for any things the anime might have missed or left out. But with over 50 volumes at over $10 a pop, $500+ seems to be a steep price for my budget to buy in this series. So it is either gradually buy each volume in hopes the local book store or online retailer doesn't run out of a certain volume or look at this option.This book is THICK for containing the first five volumes. But the pages are bigger with easier the read text and allow you to enjoy the beautiful artwork even more. While I was initially concerned that the paper quality could be flimsy enough that it could tear easily, I found upon starting that the quality was very good. The binding is good. The artwork is spaced well enough that the art isn't lost into the crease of the spine as you read. My only issue was that the top right corner of the book had a bend mark on the cover, but that is more Amazon's fault on handling. I plan to order Vol 2, because it is a great buy when you compare this to buying the 5 volumes individually (you save roughly 50% right now).If you are a Fairy Tail fanatic, then this is great for your collection. If you are new to the series, this is a great start for your amazing adventure!

Such a great series!! Boy do the characters have the crap beat out of them on the regular, but they always try to do the right thing and are quick to forgive even the worst of the villains when the villains show they are redeemable. Jellal, Juvia, Laxus are some of my favorites and they all started as villains. I would love to have a friend like Natsu. And who wouldn’t love Erza!!!!!

I just LOVE Fairy Tail. I wanted to read the manga for awhile now. I wasn't so happy spending about 9$-12$ on each volume. So imagine how happy I was to find this. It's five volumes in one! Yeah, the price is high, but it's worth it. Cause if you think about it, you're spending a lot more on each individual volume. So this way is better and easier.Plus, it wasn't damaged during delivery. I plan on getting the other four as well with my next paycheck. So if you're looking for Fairy Tail manga, I suggest you start with the master's editions first.

This is a great collection of the first five volumes of Fairy Tail. While it might not be a great buy if you already have those issues, this is a large format book, much bigger pages than a traditional manga. The series itself is insanely popular, so I wont got into the details of content. I have seen the anime but these large collections are great for me to get the original stories and art at a much more affordable price than buying the books singly. The pages themselves are nice stock and this is a great way for new readers to get into the series.

This edition has translator notes that are very neat for seeing into the decisions made during translations, and clearing up cultural differences. It also has a more understandable translation than the anime. The Master's Edition has jokes in all of the original places they were in the Japanese version, while the anime left many of them out because they didn't translate well. Overall, worth getting, even if you've seen the anime.

This book is great quality paper, and the larger print is great for tired eyes. Plus, having 5 issues in one book saves space on my shelves. Great value!

love this series

Containing the whole first section of Fairy Tail Manga in one volume, this is an impressively big book.Fairy Tail is my daughter's favourite anime at the moment so I thought I'd get her the original manga and this was the best way to present it. It has good quality paper and comes with translator's notes, which is useful. As with other Manga, it's read from back to front, right to left, so takes a bit of getting used to if you're not already into Japanese books.The storyline is great and even though it will be familiar to those who've see the show first, there are some differences and extra details here, so it's worth reading.
