An Interesting Distraction
Reading a few of these accounts can be an interesting way to pass a few minutes here and there, though I can't imagine reading the book straight through. A few of the accounts are quite interesting, but too many seem to go no where, more along the lines of someone simply reporting the strange things they saw or felt while on some drug or another.

This is incredibly hard to read. They used the biggest words ever I couldn't deal. The stuff u managed to understand were interesting though. They discussed the medical uses back in the day.

A misrepresentation. Not the usual experience
I would not buy this again. I tried to read it and did, in fact, read most of it but it does not portray the truth. It is "as seems usual" heavy on the mystical and eastern religion. It was not like this for the huge majority of people but was rather, an adventure. THIS BOOK IS BS. It is written to try to predetermine what people will get in the future. I doubt the author knew but I feel he was used.

Outstanding!
I don't usually write reviews on Amazon, but I'll open an exception for this book!If you're interested in the subject, you won't regret getting your hands on this. I was hooked from Chapter 1.Highly recommended.

Amazing
A mystifying collection of stories and explanations that shed a meager but fascinating light on the world of psychoactive drugs. A must-read for anyone interested in psychedelics, their effects and outcomes.

Possibly the greatest read-aloud book ever written!
The author and I have a mutual friend. We met at a party years ago, talked "book" and did a swap (I am a famous non-fiction writer as well and we all carry copies of our project, it seems). Very vivid accounts of many folks experiences in psycho-adventuring and it's interesting to, ahem, compare notes with others. Reading (or acting it) out loud brings another dimension to the experiences. It's not the sort of thing you need to read all the way through in one session, but in bite-sized bits over time. Most interesting is how meaningful and profound some of the trips can be. It needs to be said that I know someone who was seriously damaged emotionally by doing too much of this.

Hit and Miss
Some recollections of 'trips' are interesting and throw new light on such experiences. Others seems a rehash, especially on the mystical/spiritual aspects, which get a bit repetitive and heavily introspective (as one would expect, I suppose). What is interesting is the way many trippers have been profoundly affected by their experiences to the extent that they have altered and maintained their lives accordingly. The other major aspect is creativity, and many have been led up new avenues of expression. But it's not all light and well-being. Some got the dark end of the stick, and they probably stand out more due to their infrequency and the nature of their unpleasant experiences. Overall the book is valuable and interesting, and the stories are told by the people concerned in their own style. Not a bad book to dip into every now and then.

Acid, Wunderkind
A must read for all those old heads out there, and younger ones out there who have experimented, or who are interested in experimenting with that mind blowing substance. Well put together stories of adventures, and a great eye opener into the various modalities an acid trip can take. One day, they'll be giving everyone the opportunity to discover who they really are, and that we have the chance to look at the world in a new light. Just as long as its not controlled by some greedy money-grubbing corporation ! Scary, exhilerating, tiring but at the end of the day, pure fun !
