Good function Good looks
I was a bit put off by the price of this item but the company has a good rep for quality. It looks much better on my counter then the old (OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel Sink Caddy) item it replaces. Takes up less space and is less "busy" looking which suits me. I'm still getting use to the amount of soap delivered and the sensors range, not wanting to trigger a shot of soap inadvertently. That has happened a few times so I have been turning it off when not needing it. Almost sent a splash of soap into my salad the other day but the salad bowl did not trigger the device and I'm quite glad of that.Update 3-7-14; It developed a drip from the spout. Ocssionally would find a smallish glob of soap on the counter and could see the drip forming a couple of times, with the machine turned off. Sent it in for repair/replacement, they paid return shipping. Hope this won't recur.11-8-15 Final story: Apparently the adjustment rocker switch on top is not water proof, water got inside and rotted the electronics, into the garbage. How can an item for this kind of use on the kitchen counter not be waterproof? Bought a Grohe 40537000 Authentic Soap Dispenser, Small, Chrome, works fine, pure mechanical, stainless and good quality plastic, will likely last for ever. KDMKDM6-30-15 I can no longer recommend this item. After sending in the first dripping pump they sent the wrong one, no big deal. Sent that one in and the #3 replacement did not work at all. I was going to just toss it but decided to see if I could fix it and I did, there was a piece of debris in the pump itself, I cleared that and it was up and running. Now about 6-8 weeks later this one is dripping on the counter. Sorry, I have no more energy to play with or return it again. KDM

Great! Use rechargables if you can.
Ive owned one of these 13oz simplehuman soap dispensers for a few years now. Its been in the bathroom working flawlessly. Waterproof, holds a good amount of soap, and easily adjustable. This thing will suck down batteries and it does need decent batteries to function properly. I switched to rechargeable AA batteries a year and a half after initial purchase, and the batteries seem to do better and i dont have to ‘feel the need to’ run down normal batteries before i toss them. The soap dispenser does put out less soap as the batteries die, so rechargeable batteries are the way to go. Rechargeables also have less of a high/low charge and stay at a middle ground for longer.Just bought a second one of these soap dispensors for my kitchen. The little sponge holder is an attachment, and not permanently attached, this seems to be the reasoning for discontinuing the regular 13oz dispensor. All the liquid soaps ive tried work fine.

Love this!!!
I purchased this for dish soap because I got tired of over squeezing out the amount of soap needed. Plus, the bottle is always slippery and messy.... This works great for this purpose. I was concerned that I'd constantly be activating the dispenser if I kept it next to the sink or was wiping the counter, but you have to actually be pretty high up near the nozzle to activate this one. If you are down low under the nozzle, it doesn't dispense, so that's great. I will probably get the one without the sponge holder for the bathroom, too (for handsoap). I find Simple Human products to be well made and nicely designed. Well worth the little more that they cost. I have the trash can (gift from my parents) and I love it. I also have the tiny countertop trash can that I use by my coffee station for the coffee pods... great item, too.

Convenient product but lifespan is just too short for its cash value
This is my 3rd and final review on this product.I love this product - the quality of the dispenser itself, its concept of its functionality - however, I would have to say this company really needs to pay attention to customers’ complaints about its lifespan. My biggest issue at first was having to replace the batteries in less than a week on its first use. I tried to be patient with it and ended up working fine afterwards (reason why I changed my feedback on the second time). Then just last week, it just stopped working at all. We have changed the batteries, cleaned it etc. and it just seems like its sensor just went out. Cmon now - this is a soap dispenser. Reading up on some of the reviews, they were told to keep it dry. How can that be? We leave this on our sink so that we can use it when washing dishes. There is no way you can keep this away from water splashes etc. Even more, you need to put liquid soap in it so keeping it dry is definitely not an option for a product as such. Then, there is the battery life. I agree with other customers. Two batteries at least would be sufficient. Why 4? Even worse, it lasts anywhere from 2 - 3 weeks which is a lot more than the tripe A batteries we use on our TV remote controls. I bought this not only because of the reviews, but it comes with the sponge holder. $50 plus shipping is not worth it for me especially when having to return it as we do not live in the main USA. SimpleHuman should really pay attention to customers reviews and fix these minor problems rather than having to just replace it or tell the customers to keep it dry.
