How often should I use this on my boxer to prevent ear infections?

I use this on my mini schnauzer every other day, but daily might be better. My mini has chronic ear infections and she doesn't seem to mind this! I warm it up a little in warm water before I use it.

Can this be used on cats?

Do you leave the drops in or wipe out with a cotton ball? I'm not sure how it cleans.
