It Works!
I saw Dr. Sprung in December of 2012 and he gave me my wake up call. My Acid Reflux was out of control, I had put on 20 lbs. in less than 2 years and I was heading towards diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. He was honest and frank, "I can give you more medication to control this but you need to lose some weight". That was 40 lbs. ago. I started the Rice Diet on January 2nd and by February 1st had lost 25lbs. Following the book to the letter I added in meat, eggs, and other low salt foods and after 9 weeks I've reached my goal and lost 40lbs. I'm back to the weight that I was when my wife and I first got married. Something I noticed is that I'm still losing weight and now there is no effort! This is not a diet but a life style and if you choose to stick with it and not cheat it works. Some tips: 1) Get a wok; I cooked my vegies and rice up in a wok adding a littler vinegar or cooking sherry for flavor. 2) Use fresh vegetables, everything is better fresh! 3) Get a digital scale, it's very motivating to see ½ or ¾ of a pound come off every day. 4) Track you progress and exercise habits in a journal to keep yourself on track. 4) DON'T CHEAT! Once your body adjust to eating healthy it gets easier. I will not lie, the first two weeks are really hard but it gets easier at weeks 3 and 4, and by week 5 you don't even know you are on a diet! I can never thank Dr. Sprung or Denise enough for writing this book. I want all you to know if I can do it, so can you! Denise, I'm waiting for that cookbook!

Just another calorie controlled diet
Service and delivery were fine. Well packaged. But it's unfortunate that the authors and publisher used the terms "Rice Diet" to describe this plan. I wanted more info about the original Rice Diet designed by Walter Kempner. His carefully designed diet was very low sodium, very low fat, and very low protein. And of course about 90% carbohydrate. If that's the plan you are interested in, this book won't help.

such a great book! excellent attention to detail and tips on healthy weight loss! also makes a realistic approach to a manageable lifestyle. great recipes that are easy to make and affordable! would recommend this book to anyone looking for a healthier lifestyle, looking to loose weight and maintain it!

Great Diet Book!
The Rice Diet is not a new trend as it was first originated in 1940 by Dr. Walter Kempner. Many people have had life changing transformation by losing weight on this diet. Douglas Jay Spring, MD, FACG, FACP and Denise Spring,, MSW have written a colorful and simply written book for you to use as a guide while you are on your journey to a better and healthier you.The Rice Diet consists of rice being a staple in your diet, along with fruits and vegetables. When you first start out you'll spend a short period eating rice and fruit so your body can adjust to the diet. Slowly you'll add more food to the diet such as vegetables, fish/lean meats, pasta, breads (low-sodium), crackers, and much more.Wow! This book was fun to look at with its flashy pages filled with great photos. I have heard of the Rice Diet, but I didn't really know that it was about until reading this book, which was sent to me free of charge in exchange for an honest review. Dieting can be a major pain for some people, like me as I can never stay on one. Lose Weight Get Healthy & Be Happy is one of the best written diet books that I have read as it is meant to inform you and to motivate you into living a healthy life style. There are a few recipes such as Easy-to-do-Ratatouille and Sweet & Sour Cabbage. There is a neat interactive journal for you in chapter sixteen and seventeen. Overall, I loved reading book and I'm going to try out a few of the recipes.

Wonderful book, changed my life!
"Lose Weight, Get Healthy and Be Happy" truly does accomplish all of the aims in the title. This book contains everything you need to know about adopting a healthier lifestyle and sticking to it. The lifestyle is based on the Rice Diet, which sets itself apart from other natural food based diets in the sense that it includes sodium restriction as a key component and is based on a medically supervised diet program. The beauty is that following the book lets you simulate being a part of the diet program experience from your home.The book is extremely user-friendly. It is a light, engaging, entertaining read that conveys all of the key secrets to succeeding on the diet, and it contains many creative and delicious recipes and detailed reference sections that can be revisited throughout your time on the diet. Although it contains a great deal of information regarding nutrition, it is written in a very approachable manner that even those not familiar with the principals of nutrition can understand.Following this book and the Rice Diet lifestyle has helped me turn my life around and attain a healthy lifestyle when all other diets have failed me in the past. The key is that it is not just a diet, but a continuing lifestyle, and it does not just help you lose weight, but can effectively halt and reverse disease and help to get you off many of your medications with the help of your physician. I highly recommend this book for anyone with concerns about their weight and especially if you have other health conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, heart burn, sleep apnea, etc, as this diet can significantly help with problems that even my medications were unable to manage effectively. Of course, this diet is extremely effective for weight loss, even if you don't have any other health concerns.

highly recommended
The Rice Diet has been a trend for years though until i recieved the "Lose Weight Get Healthy and Be Happy". The rice diet consosters of rice being the main staple in the diet along with healthy fruits and vegetables. At first you slowly eat ricce and fruit so that your body can adjust to the diet. Slowly you add more food so your body can sustain to everything it recieves. The photos make the book stand out to the reader. Dieting is not easy and for myself i have never found out I couls stick to until this one. The best part of this book is the recipes that are healthy and delicious. I love this book and recommend it to everyone.
