They work perfectly for putting in bottles to help shake up what is inside.

It's pretty hard to know if a ball bearing is good until it fails but the two bicycle bottom brackets I overhauled with these adjusted easily and are nice and smooth after 100+ miles so I think they are probably fine. Precision ball bearings are one of the earlier (and crucial) inventions of the mechanical era and are a mature technology, so I'm confident these will be up to the task.Unlike some reviewers I know the difference between chrome steel and chrome plating so use grease, not water, for lubrication and definitely don't drop them in your paint!

These bearings appear to be well-made with consistent size. I use them for overhauing hubs on bicycle wheels. I cycle quite a bit and own several bicycles, so buying quality bearings in bulk for a good price is king.

bought these bearings after discovering that two parts of my bicycle use this size (and the balls in one of them weren't that shiny), but i'd postponed getting this bicycle into service so many times, i didn't wait for them to arrive. so this review is based on cursory inspection.i assume these are dimensionally accurate, because i don't have a way of measuring anything that precisely. on the other hand, i can count and see that i got an extra one. so if drop one and it rolls under something heavy, i can let it make a home there :-)four stars instead of five so this review appears alongside the one complaining about getting 98 instead of 100. i doubt this packaging issue reflects a neglect of quality control, but it's an issue.

exactly what I needed for my project

Ball bearings are the size they state to be, and they're magnetic too. I'm very pleased with it.

I bought these to rebuild my vintage Shimano HB-1050 rear hub. Mirror polished these 1/4 versions are accurate. My wheel spins easily and freely by hand now.

These aren't 1/4". They are exactly 0.218 inch, or 7/32.
