Fits great after minor adjustments made with scissors, no sewing needed!
11/18/18 UPDATE again: My cat still has to wear these (all the time) so I have a lot of experience with it. I have tried other suits and come back to this one. The tail hole is definitely big enough for cat to use litter box just fine. I have a 12 lb. cat and the XS is just fine. I cut the tail hole a bit bigger on the upper side (fabric does not fray) and it gives her more more to hold her tail up easier. The underside, I did have to sew an extra piece to cover lower belly completely but that's no big deal. Really, they are very comfortable for the cat. Still, 5 stars!11/14/16 UPDATE to my review from last year. Below is my original review. Simple solution to the tail hole being too small. Now I ordered 5 more and I received the "New Improved Version". It may be ok for some, but now the tail hole is WAY too big. It used to be a circle but now it is a huge oval and now it does not cover the lower belly, just where my cat needs it. VERY disappointed. I want the old version where you can just cut a little that is needed. NOT happy!I noticed the "doesn't fit well" reviews, but I thought I'd take a chance. My cat is 10-11lbs and I bought the XS. She has to wear a body suit most times because of chronic skin condition. So here was my quick fix and you don't have to know how to sew: It is true the front legholes are binding with the black cuff. Before I even tried it on Penny, I took some scissors and cut off but 1/4" of the front legholes. (Make sure you don't cut the neck hole!) Then, it is true the hole for the tail is just for the tail! So before I tried it on her, I took my scissors to the tail hole and not cutting the top part of the hole but just cutting more of a pear shape instead of round. I first made a 1" slit in the middle of the bottom part of hole, then cut the "pear" shape from there. I put it on her, FOLDED OVER the neck ribbing, like you would a turtleneck. It fits her great! AND plenty of space for her to pee and poop. You can make adjustments by cutting the fabric a bit at a time. It does not fray because of the type of fabric. It is well made and the material is soft. So, even though I had to make adjustments, I give it 5 stars! I'm buying another for her.

Didn't help our cat to self mutilate at all. NOT for mani, obsessive cats read on...
Hmn? What can we say? We purchased this for an overanxious, hypersensitive, manic but cutie cat. Can we use hypersensitive and cat in one sentence? This fit our cat perfectly in size. Seemed very soft and comfortable and durable for a normal and relatively calm cat. However, we don't have one of those. As a result, our cat was able to maneuver around in it, removing her tail from the back end, placing her front paw inside of it, and on top of that, somehow got her back feet inside of it and scratched holes in its side. Can we saw contortionist, just a cat or double jointed. Either way, for our purpose of calming our cat, it didn't work and for keeping a mani self mutilating nutty cat from biting herself, it just didn't work for us. Working on calming chews see separate review for Thunder cat calming chews.

Much better than an e-collar after surgery!
This was perfect for my cat after surgery. He slipped out of one e-collar and got at his stitches, and then kept walking into things with a second one, so we really needed a different option. I'll admit the size was slightly large on him but he was between sizes so I went with the larger one and then used a few safety pins to shorten the body. It worked great. He could do his business without getting anything on the suit because the rear hole is large enough, and most importantly, he couldn't get at the stitches on his belly. The suit was easier to get on than I expected and it secured perfectly on his back, making it easy to remove as well. It did take him a little while to get used to it, but that was expected. I'd definitely recommend this instead of an e-collar.

Size small? Pretty big!
First off, this would've gotten a higher rating if the item fit. The construction is very nice. Soft material, made very well. A human baby would enjoy a onesie like this!I have a 6yr old,short/medium haired tortie girl. Weighs about 10lbs. Has hanging belly skin,so anything that goes around her belly needs to be slightly larger size.Maybe I didn't properly measure her, or she's a much smaller breed than I originally thought. Anyway, the description for size small says "adult cat ". She's got excess belly skin from being obese before, and I've had poor luck fitting her with body suits that were too tight. This one was very big,and quite long. I think it would fit a large adult male cat,or a very fluffy cat pretty well. It's stretchy material, so if you have the right fit,the tail hole will be OK for kitty to go potty without needing to remove the suit.

Perfect for my Cat
I purchased this suit in XX-small for my cat after an emergency exploratory laparotomy. She was absolutely miserable in the traditional cone they sent home with her so I quickly started looking for an alternative. My vet's office had this suit in an X-small, but unfortunately as the pain killers wore off and she perked up a bit, she was able to get out of that size so I ordered her the next size down, XX-small, and it is a perfect fit! She is a petite 8 lb cat, she wears a 9 inch collar, her chest measures 13 inches, and her back is 14.5 inches (hope the measurements help someone else with sizing). Her movements are restricted slightly but the main result of this is that she can't run as fast which is a good thing post-op. I love the suit because she is able to cuddle with me and her feline siblings. I also like it because I don't have to worry about her caring and loving big kitty sister trying to groom the incision.
