As the author says at the conclusion of the book, "When we get our theology of Christ right, our worship of Him increases and Eternity will not be too long to praise the One who has given us eternal life."I was asked to join a small group of women from my church and read this book as a summer book discussion and so glad I did. Jenny Reeves Manley is able to articulate the gospel and doctrine of our Lord Jesus in a fresh way. She presents new insights into what we have learned about Jesus and challenges the reader with questions at the end of each chapter, which are excellent to stimulate further thought and discussion, whether reading as an individual or study group.I look forward to read the other Good Portion books on Scripture and God.

Well worth it: overflowing with wisdom; a joy to read!

The beautiful truths unpacked in this book refreshed my soul and pushed my heart to praise God for his amazing plan of salvation and redemption through the work of Christ for those who believe. While reading this book, I frequently found myself more in awe of who Jesus is and even more thankful for what He did for me. I found her careful questions convicting and her unpacking of God’s truth glorious, even bringing me to tears at several points. Readers of this book will know Christ better at the end. Jenny lays out biblical truth in a clear way that all readers will understand even if they don't have much prior theological knowledge. The thought provoking questions at the end of each chapter also make this book an excellent resource to study one on one or as a group. I highly recommend getting this book!

Jenny Manley has written an excellent book on who exactly was Jesus Christ using his own words and the words of his earliest followers--was he just a good teacher, a crazed man, or the Son of God? It is a very approachable book that encourages the reader to think more deeply about the implications of your own response to the question, Who is Jesus Christ? Whether you are new to studying the life of Jesus or have been doing so for decades, you will find a well written exploration in The Good Portion. She has a wonderful voice as a writer which makes this book seem more like a conversation with a friend. I highly recommend it. It was hard to put this book down!Susan Wall
