ClosetMaid 2050 SuperSlide Adjustable Hanging Closet Rod, 2' to 4', White

Doesn't fit in ClosetMaid support brackets on one side
The thicker part of this rod broke the support bracket. It is NOT made to click in like it's supposed to with a normal rod (the size of the smaller rod side). Aside from that, my only confusion lies in the MASSIVE long box it was delivered in. That thing could fit maybe 20 of these things in it... With space to spare.

hangers to slide freely, but read this review!!
I read the reviews for this item, so I wanted to clarify some things that may be confusing. Since this rod extends, it is made of two metal rods; one is slightly smaller than the other so it can slide into/out of the larger one. The closet maid brackets for the easy slide system do not allow for the wider part of the rod to lock into them like the slimmer part does. You can blast the plastic with a heat gun to get the plastic of the bracket to give a bit if you need it to lock into place. What I did was get a few extra support brackets, a set of end caps, and these plastic things that join two rods together. Since the brackets allow for hangers to slide freely over them, it doesn’t really matter how many you need to use. I try to have one every 12 inches but got a few extra just in case. I wound up buying 2 of these extendable rods, giving me two of the slimmer rods and two of the wider ones. I took separated one of them, and joined the slimmer rod to the wider one using the connector piece (sold separately). Now I have a wider rod in the center, with two slimmer rods on each end. I put end caps on either end (end caps are sold as a set and sold separately) instead of doing wall mounts. I already had stuff in my closet and didn’t want to create drywall dust by drilling into my walls. I then put support brackets on the wire shelf they hook onto as close to the wall as possible. I made sure a bracket supported where the plastic joiner piece was, so there wasn’t a weak point where the slimmer rod was connected to the other rod set. Then I put a bracket right where the wider rod ends and the slim nested rod comes out of it. This way, I didn’t need to have a bracket under the wider rod, since the wider rod doesn’t click into the bracket. I would have just used a heat gun to get the plastic to give a bit, but for my closet configuration I thankfully didn’t need to do that. If you’re reading this to figure out what you need, I’d buy an extra rod set, a set or two of the rod joiner pieces, end caps, and like three more brackets than you think you’ll need. You can always return them, but it’s very annoying to not have what you need to do the whole project from start to finish. I’d definitely recommend doing end caps if you’re not doing wall mounted holders for the ends of the rod, and just do the shelf brackets as close to the wall as possible. It was just way easier to do for me. It’s worth doing a bit of configuring and adjusting to get everything in its place just right, because this closet rod system allows hangers to slide over the bracket without getting caught or stuck. That being said, check what kind of hangers you use and how the brackets sit to make sure they will slide like they are supposed to. I use white plastic hangers from target and they work very well, plus they’re very affordable. When you’re buying your brackets, make sure they’re compatible with the type of wire shelving you have. There are two different kinds: one that has a section that you can put hangers on, and one that does not. I hope that helps.

cheap rod, not sturdy, will collapse with lots of clothes
This is such a cheap plastic rod. If you have a full rod of clothes, it will all collapse. I have been very disappointed in this whole line of products. We ended up ditching the whole ClosetMaid system and installing a thick wooden rod with metal support brackets. Far sturdier and superior. Save yourself the hassle and frustration.

JUNK.
First things first:"ClosetMaid 2051 SuperSlide Adjustable Hanging Closet Rod, 4' to 6', White"Yeah, no. The rod I received was Nickel. I specifically ordered the white rod because it appears to be made from plastic, and my mom is allergic to nickel. So, thanks a lot for that.Second of all:"Adjustable hang rod for use with Super Slide storage systems and closet rod supports"Lie. I bought the 5-pack of rod supports (white, plastic), and the thicker end of this rod won't snap into the brackets. So, once again -- thanks a lot.Third of all:Before I realized it wouldn't fit, I peeled the plastic packaging off only to realize the giant sticker for the rod was stuck directly ON the rod. This required me to spend half an hour of my day peeling and scrubbing this moronic sticker off the rod.Overall, I'm beyond irritated. Don't waste your time with this junk.

Doesn't lock together.
This rod works how it is supposed to. But I wish it locked together or something. It's just a smaller metal tube in a larger metal tube. I was not able to put the brackets at both ends of the shelves. One is near the end and the other is about 1 foot from the end. While it holds the rod, the rod can slide around. So we got out some electrical tape and taped the rods together and then taped the rods to the brackets for more stability. It works, but doesn't look the best.

Don't get too excited
This adjustable hanging rod isn't as adustable as it states. It is just a rod that slides into another rod. To adjust it to the 2ft you actually have to take out the sliding rod completely which was not stated in any instructions. Used this rod with the closet rod support hook to hang below the shelf. Also the images show that there are end caps for the rod but none came with the rod I ordered.

Missing end caps!
End caps are missing from the product when delivered. Images clearly show end caps on the rods and the description does not indicate end caps are extra. In addition, the description states:Product descriptionSize:2' to 4'The ShelfTrack system is an adjustable standards and bracket program. Hang rods attach to the Super Slide shelving for continuous slide for hangers. Super Slide shelving is perfect for folded clothes, linens, and other closet items. With the addition of Super Slide closet rod supports and closet rods, it forms a hanging system that allows hangers to slide freely end to end. The Adjustable Hang Rod is part of the Super Slide system. Snaps into the Closet Support Bracket. This description states "closet rod supports and closet rods" make up the "system" - there is no clear indication that the end caps are not included with the rods.

Not what it says half of closet maid
This is not a closetmaid product! Well half of it is but the other half is a cheap rod and it doesn’t even go together right! So a total waste of time and money! I should have just went to Lowe’s or home depot as now I have to return this at the ups store and then go to Lowe’s to get a real one!! Don’t waste your time with this seller as you will be highly disappointed! Planned on doing my daughters closet tonight! But now I have to wait.

Satisfied with purchase
Good product, sturdy. Using it as replacement for wooden rod that had sagged from weight of items in closet.
