A great long-term emergency food resource.
A great long-term emergency food resource.Shipped quickly in a well padded envelope.Once rehydrated, these potatoes are very flavorful and the texture is good. They cook up well in my cast iron skillet once you get it super hot. They also store for a long period of time. These are also good for camping trips as you get a lot of potatoes in a small, lightweight package.I would certainly recommend these!

No instructions and gross
I get this plastic bag with the name of the product and a website. Period. No instructions on how to prepare them and so I went to their website, and no instructions there either.I google for instructions and find a competitor’s site that said add boiling water to cover the potatoes and wait 15 minutes. I did that and all that happened was they began to smell bad.I added more water, I heated them on the stove, and the smell kept getting worse. I finally just dumped the whole thing down the drain. Now I’m airing my kitchen!I’m very disappointed at the quality of this item and why Amazon would let a food item ship with no instructions on how to prepare. There’s only one word to describe this item: gross.

You Pay for the Preparation and Longer Storage Life
It seems that some of the reviewers have differing opinions on this product. I happen to have an entirely different view on them.I am big on long term storage. I like to make my own dehydrated foods and I like to purchase them as well to cut down on the preparation and processing time. I like having extra items like this on hand that have a long shelf life and won't go bad before I can use them. If ever I am in a pinch and do not have fresh produce available I always have these as a backup. Some of the reviewers mentioned the price being way too high for the one pound of potatoes you receive. You have to keep in mind that these are dehydrated and the water has been removed from them compared to the regular potatoes you get at the store. While I have found that these don't get very plump when reconstituting, they do gain a little of their shape and weight back. When it comes to price, these are very comparable to most of the other dehydrated foods I have purchased as well, maybe even a little more affordable. You pay for the convenience of not having to dehydrate and package them. Sometimes if you don't have a lot of time on your hands this is just easier. I think it is a fair value for the price. As you can see from my pictures, you receive around 6 cups worth of dehydrated potatoes. Not a bad deal, in my opinion. If you want these to last longer I recommend removing them from the bag and sealing them up in mylar bags with an oxygen absorber if you don't plan on using them anytime soon.

So Much Better Than I Expected!
I ordered both the dehydrated potato dices and the dehydrated red bell peppers. I wasn't really sure what to expect of their flavor/texture.The packages did not include any directions whatsoever about how long to rehydrate, so I looked online and learned that it shouldn't take more than about 15 minutes in hot water. I added one cup of potatoes and about 1/3 of a cup of peppers to the hot water. As seen in my photos, the mixture of potatoes and peppers didn't change much in a full hour of soaking, other than turning the water red. The peppers softened up quite a bit, but weren't perfect. The potatoes were still a bit crunchy and tasted awful. After 90 minutes total, I decided to just try to cook them up.I fried the potatoes and peppers with some slices of turkey bacon, some all-purpose seasoned salt, and chili pepper infused olive oil. I topped my husbands with two fried eggs. This mixture was not only edible, but it was actually quite delicious! My husband and I give it two thumbs up.The key to these dehydrated foods is the seasoning. The potatoes didn't even taste like real potatoes until they were properly seasoned.

Very convenient to use
These are small pieces of potatoes, clean and very well dried. They already have skin removed, and are also pre-chopped to uniform sizes. They are a good option for making quick meals, by saving preparation time, no need to peel off the skin, and no cut needed either. I throw them in water to make soups, quick and easy. I also cook them with meat or vegetables. When using for drier meals, I usually pre-soak them for a while to make them softer first. Or if wanting to be quicker, I just dump them in boiling water, and then take out for my cooking. They tastes pretty good in different dishes. I’m so happy that I found them, so convenient and also delicious.
