Long overdue
'Source' was a key inspiration to those of us aspiring to be 'composers' or sound artists in the 1970s. This volume manages to successfully evoke much of the magic (for Europeans) of contact with the US-based ideas of the time, and replicates their original idiosyncratic layout and landscape format albeit in a slightly condensed form, and without the memorable covers. Larry Austin's visionary project is here given a wider audience, and will perhaps go some way to explaining for that new audience what it felt like to be playing with sound at the time. There are riches on every page.

A wonderful summary of an exciting period in the development of Western 'Serious' music. The reproduced articles are simultaneously thoughful and thought-provking. It's intereresting to see with hindsight the missing parts, e.g. a return to tonality, and a predominance of drone/minimal music. Very enjoyable though!
