The Good Fight - Season One [3 DVDs]

Excellent political and social satire
The first season is 'ordinary' in that the focus of the script concerns a major fraud crime impacting on the lives of lead characters working in a Chicago law firm. This is the season 1 overarching theme, built around 'court cases of the week'. The firm is run by a team of predominantly black lawyers with a reputation for defending the black community against the authorities: the first hint of the series' political slant. From Season 2 onward it ramps-up into cutting satire from a Democrat perspective, with a couple of Republican lead characters to leaven that. But, make no mistake, if you liked or supported Trump, you will hate this and consider it an anti-Trump diatribe. The subjects addressed across seasons 2 to 5 include the impact of the Trump administration: fake news, corruption, social division etc.; then how that culture starts corrupting outraged and frustrated democrat supporters. It then moves onto the accessibility and legitimacy of the justice system and other related themes. It also addresses race prejudice including - again leavening the strongly left/liberal perspective - prejudice against white characters by black. All this shot-through with moral dilemmas, problems concerning the representation of major criminals, working and personal relationships, financial challenges of keeping the firm afloat; all built around strong story lines and excellent acting.Acerbic, controversial, sometimes absurd and hilarious; this is something special. Highly recommended, I look forward to the sixth and final series.

SO MUCH TO APPLAUD
That shattering title sequence well depicts how Diane Lockhart now feels - life's savings wiped out by a massive financial scam (masterminded by one she regarded a close friend). Fellow victims demand blood, no punishment too great. Diane is determined goddaughter Maia shall not suffer for father Henry Rindell's dark deeds. With her eagerly awaited retirement on hold, both join a rival law firm - its mainly coloured staff specializing in seeking justice against racist white cops. This "The Good Life" spin-off is great, certain familiar faces good to see. It could scarcely be more topical, beginning with the Inauguration of Donald Trump (throughout there no secret what is thought of him). Cases include hacking, online bullying, cyber terrorism, employers exploiting their work force. Sinister powers-that-be continue to have secret agendas.Despite serious themes, there are many laughs (more so than in certain sitcoms). Strengths include incisive scripts, Christine Baranski heading a top-notch cast. Eccentrics abound. Melissa Gold is back - unconventional, chirpy and highly efficient. Carrie Preston as scatty lawyer Tascioni is again a joy, she not be be underestimated - as loathsome Mike Kresteva finds out (Matthew Perry far removed from his role in "Friends"). Audacious courtroom tactics, judges more on the ball than they sometimes seem, cases that do not always go as hoped - indeed there is much to intrigue and excite.Only ten episodes, but there will be more in Season 2. Bonuses are limited to deleted or extended scenes and a gag reel.Overall? Quality fare.

Brilliant show - Amazon needs to make clear episodes upload as they become available in UK
I am loving this show. After watching all The Good Wife on Netflix I wanted more and on google I discovered The Good Fight. I was delighted to find The Good Fight available on Amazon. You can purchase the whole series but it only becomes available as it releases in the UK so if you buy it before all episodes are released it is like old fashioned TV - a new episode released every week (quite exciting). The show has a cast of great characters and retains some key names from The Good Wife. The storylines are strong and there's some wonderfully witty moments. I must admit to finding one of the new main characters - Mia - rather irritating due to a somewhat limited range of facial expressions but she may grow into the role.So far (I am up to episode 9) this is a fantastic series and I very much hope it will continue with as much success as The Good Wife. Also, does anyone else find the opening credits thrilling to watch? I rerun them a couple of times for each episode because they are just so beautiful.

Great sequel to the good wife
As a huge fan of the good wife, I was please to see that the husband and wife writer team came back with this sequel, since the ending of the good wife was somewhat abrupt and did not provide a closure. The good fight is cleverly done in the sense that it appeals to those of us who has seen the previous series and knows all the characters, whilst the new audience is not excluded. It's been totally okay for my husband who has not see the good wife to follow the current series' storyline, and he is beginning to really get into this series. It's different to the good wife, since there is no Alicia Florrick in this series - however, it has that familiar feel and flow, and the leading characters do not fail to deliver. It is also great to see numerous quirky characters in the previous series return, growing strong in the current series. Really looking forward to see where this series will take us.

Really boring !
I bought this series hoping it would be like the wonderful THE GOOD WIFE; instead it was boring and predictable , with unlikeable characters.

Where is Season 2????
So i stumbled on these series on the plane from Dubai and i was absolutely shocked because i never realised that such exists. Being an avid fan of “The Good Wife” i loved how they have been able to carve a different story centred around Diane lockhart. I watched the whole season in 2 days now i cant wait for season 2 to come out

The Good Fight
I haven’t watched ‘The Good Wife’ so cannot make a comparison as others do. My review is for this series alone. I like all the characters, there is humour, lots of it, sometimes sadness. I just love the two characters Lucca & Colin they are my favourite & wish they would get together permanently, but sadly I guess that won’t happen.
