Bike arrived without a single scratch!
This bike is truly amazing! I received the bike about a week after I purchased it. The bike arrived double boxed. Every single piece of metal was wrapped in packing material. The bike came semi-assembled. I had to install the front tire, and handle bar. This is my first fat tire bike and the Mongoose Hitch has been so much fun!I upgraded the knob-style gear shifter to a trigger-style rapid fire gear shifter. I also upgraded the bottom bracket to a sealed YST bottom bracket. I thoroughly greased the bearing cups with parktool bike grease and verified the crankset spins freely with no friction. I also replaced the cheapo bike seat with a better one. These were my first upgrades I have ever performed on a bike and they were extremely easy. I plan to upgrade the grips and the pedals as soon as they are in stock on Amazon. My Hitch Mongoose rides soooo smooth and shifting is so much easier now. Its a big, beautiful bike that gets a lot of attention and definitely gives a nicer ride. I love how they packaged my bike so much, I plan to write the company expressing my gratitude. This bike is a must buy!

Love this bike
Bought this bike to get my fitness back on. I'll start with the cons first, I personally hated the seat I'm a bigger guy 6' 4" 300ib so I had to buy another seat. The tires are fatty which I wanted super hard to steer if your not used to it, after about 10 min became much easier. Heavy bike about 45ib and you can feel it. Breaks from factory don't work so well but with the weight of the bike I stops quickly, but the hardwear to tune it right is there. Now for the pros. Great bike that should last for years to come. Easy to put together. Gears shift smooth. For my breaking ride I took it on a 11 mile ride over concrete grass and dirt this machine preformed great. For the price I expected it not to have preformed as well as it did.

A low-risk investment if you want to try fat-tire biking
This review is for those who are not convinced yet that they should plunk down $1000+ to try fat tire biking. The Hitch arrived in packaging without any damage. It was shipped within its own box that was enclosed in another box. After assembling it for about 15 minutes, I weighed the whole rig( with stock pedals and seat), which came to roughly 44 lbs. The seat post requires some force in tightening it around the seat but was secure afterwards (don't forget to grease your seat post). After calibrating the brakes, I found that the front rotor was not totally "trued" (thus 1 star subtracted) and still had some scraping sounds during the front wheels' rotation. After riding it for two miles, the scraping sound was gone and the brake pads were seated well.Of course, being a steel bike, the Hitch is heavier than the more expensive aluminum ones. However, the ride quality is stable and almost bouncy and the braking power is adequate provided you've calibrated the brakes well. I still have to test it in the trails but have ridden it in snow and ice (streets of Ottawa ON) with 10 PSI on front and back tires. The tires were grippy and surefooted. The 7 speed transmission may be a limiter for those (including me) who are not super fit, but then again, I am mostly going to be using this on flat to moderately rolling trails, not extreme technical routes. I figure the extra 25 lbs (compared to my aluminum frame CAAD10) will hopefully translate into stronger legs and lungs. At $249, with drilled out rims and disc brakes, you can hardly go wrong with this choice and can gain quick entry into the fun world of fat biking.

Great bike for price!
For the price good fat bike, came double boxed, easy to put together. but out of the box I removed the factory tires and upgraded to 26 x 4.5" (yes they fit barely but do) also upgraded to the Shimano Megarange MF-TZ31 freewheel huge difference on hills etc. also upgraded the twist shifter to a shimano Tourney SL-TX30 and hand grips (have to when remove the twist shifter), put a taller stem riser and just upgraded the brakes to Shimano Tourney Calipers and Shimano 180mm front Rotor and 160mm rear. (Factory brakes are not good at all rear was warped out of the box and bad stopping power and grinding sounding) also removed the factory kickstand seamed kinda short and unstable upgraded the the side frame stand bike sets up straighter and more secure. after upgrades bike is excellent now. Love the Red color! wheels look black but are actually a very dark metallic blue. if you can catch it close to 200.00 range good deal but price varies seem every other day it up and back down.

Both brake fine adjustment nuts (on hand brake) threads pulled out so ...
First off i had very low expectations on a fat tire bike that was under 250.00.Cons: The front brake rotor broke off the very first time it was used. Both brake fine adjustment nuts (on hand brake) threads pulled out so it can no longer be adjusted. The brakes are crazy bad at doing there job. The gearing ratio they selected is way too hard to peddle. The hand twist shift is complete garbage even after messing with it a bit still shifts hear at random and chain slips under pressure. If you peddle and turn at the same time your toe hits the spinning tire (even when small girl operates).Pros: Got into fat biking for sub 250! Heavy bike but feels solid, paint is good, welds are nice and solid and clean. Rims and Tires seem to be fine.Summary: If you just want really cheap fat tire for the road and very very light offroading its a decent bike considering the price. If you want to do real adventuring and fat tire bike things don't even consider this bike. Go spend 1000+ on a real fat bike.

Great value and solid bike for big guys
Great deal and perfect for me starting out with fat tire with plans to upgrade. Upgraded seat so far and that was well worth it. Took me about 40 minutes to get ride ready including adjustments to disk brakes and derailleur. Would upgrade to 21 speed for rough and hilly terrain but the 7 speed is just fine for flat terrain. Eventually will grab cruising handlebars for my purposes of mostly cruising at 6’4” tall and 275 lbs….
