Okuma Classic Pro XP Levelwind Trolling Reel

I got a custom catfish pole and bought this reel to put on it and went to the Ohio river with 40 lbs test and it cast great, smooth and has a clicker on it and sounds like a small bell , witch is nice , got snagged up and used the pole to pull the boat to where was hooked up reel pulled right to spot and seemed strong and I would buy this reel again , price was nice and cheaper on Amazon and shipping was great ,.

I live hours from salt water, and don't get to fish it often, so this seemed like a deal for someone like me; and it was. I recently took it on a trip and caught numerous snapper and a few grouper; reel worked like a champ and I think it looks cool or at least like a much more expensive reel. I put on some 50 lb. braid which was probably overkill for what I was targeting, but 300 yards didn't even fill the reel. I don't think reel would hold up to heavy use, but they may unfair for me to say as I will probably never find out, however everyone says get a penn reel for heavy duty use and that's usually what you'll see on head/party boats. Personally, I like to buy the least expensive option that gets the job done and this reel met that criteria.

Outstanding Reel, Right out of the box it felt tough. I spooled it with 20 lb. trilene big game line and it was reeling in big fat rock bass near Kodiak Island, AK. Excellent drag. will be my primary reel for rock bass and troling for salmon. I wish I had another one and two more of a larger size.Thanks you

Bought 2 - put on some old Ugly Sticks I had, strung up 300yd of 20# BigGame on them and went out last week and crushed about 20 decent kingfish off the Fishermans' Paradise.. no snags, good drag, sprayed 'em off and wiped down for another day. Great deal and really a nice product. Any novice fisherman would need to be careful of the star drag, as it's easy to slip while reeling and back off the drag.

So excited when I received it , but pretty much it that put a smile in my face. As I inspect the product for functionality, it is working fine but then when halfway when adding the line in, the spool started to slip. I noticed that the assembly is moving and just waste time. I return the reel and spend the refund to some other reel.

The web site lists the line capacity for the XP202L says line capacity is 420 yard/20 lb, the "same" as the XP302L. When I used it for the first time I found out the "correct" capacity( on the box and on the reel) is 210 yards, "big" difference. No time to get another reel, tried it and found it's " not" smooth and requires good effort to wind. Guess I got what I paid for.

My box arrived open and the reel clamp kit was missing. The reel itself was not damaged but was loose in the box as if the packing material was removed. I also ordered the Okuma Classic Pro in black and it came in a sealed plastic and all the pieces were there and better protected.
