I truly enjoyed Setlife. I've always had an interest in the innerworkings of the film and television industry, and this book gives you an inside look. The book is well written and filled with little nuggets of information from someone that's been a part of the industry for many years. The book is an easy fun read!

Perfect mix of informative and entertaining.
Both informative and entertaining, Setlife is a great read for anyone considering a job in the film indsutry.Going beyond the creative and technical sides of filmmaking (which anyone can learn with a camera and a Youtube subscription), this book delves into the practicalities of how a large-scale film set actually runs: how to behave, who to talk to, when to just be silent, and when to buy a case of beer for the crew, just to list a few. While Matthew's own knowledge, tips and anecdotes fill the majority of the book, he has also included interviews from many successful industry professionals, providing even more insight into the specific niches that one could pursue to make a career in film. And while graciously passing on his street-smarts, the author also manages to keep it a light and entertaining read. I even laughed out loud several times while reading the book.I'd recommend this book to anyone who aspires to a career in the film industry, or even just someone who is curious about what actually goes on to create those 120 minutes of glorious escape from mundane reality.

Great book!
I am about to finish film school and am nervous thinking about how I’m going to establish a career in film. This book gave me excellent advice on how to begin approaching the task. I now feel like I have a chance breaking into this very tough industry. For fellow Australians looking to break in, this book is helpful in that regard too. While the book is not solely about the local industry, it does contain a lot of information specific to us that would be hard, if not impossible, to find in other sources.I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in making it in film! In fact, I know exactly what I’ll be getting all my friends from film school for their birthdays this year!

Practical, Detailed and Highly informative Insiders Guide
Setlife is a highly practical and immersive book on the day-to-day business of filmmaking, developing a career and getting your foot in the door for anyone looking to make a start. Film schools are great for teaching students about the big picture, about storytelling as an art from and why we make films to begin with. However, without the practical skills required to run a day-to-day set and knowledge of the immense processes that studios and production companies required to make films of the highest quality students will be unable to succeed in the business of filmmaking and unable to build a career that extends further than making short films with friends. If you’re serious about making movies and developing a prosperous career in film then Matthew Webb’s Setlife is worth its weight in gold.

This book is a great mix of essential information and hilarious
Such an interesting and helpful read! This book is a great mix of essential information and hilarious, personal stories from someone who has a great breadth of experience working in film. I'd recommend this book for anyone hoping to make a start in the film industry. There is so much that someone needs to know before they even step onto a film set - this book is the first that I've come across that even attempts to tell the ins and outs of a working set for those who have little first-hand experience. I really enjoyed the little details which helped me tremendously when I started working on big sets.Thumbs up!

Excellent & practical outline for those who want to know what to expect on set life.
This book is incredible. It's practical and raw. It gives accurate insight to those who want to know what to expect on set in the film and T.V. industry. The book is a realistic view of what to do and how to get noticed by those with decades of experience. The industry references by George Miller and other oscar award winning film crew throughout the book also show the intergrity of the author. He gives a clear outline on how he's manaufactured a career in such a demanding, and at times, gruelling industry, which has earnt respect from peers.
