NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil, Happy Days

I love Nars and the only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that it doesn't last long on me and the need to constantly reapply it is complicated by the fact that it requires a sharpener to access more product. I started using the NARS pencils for travel and they are perfect for this, but I do have to sharpen them almost every day. My second caution is that if you live or travel in very hot climate areas, you must be very careful when using the lip pencils as they can soften to the point of easily breaking or melting, making application almost impossible.

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the sparkles. I'm not a huge fan. (Although, I still use it because the sparkles don't stand out THAT much... and thats the only con about it!) The color (new lover) is a nice calm pink, with just a bit of shimmer/sparkle to it. Good coverage, blends well. I'm a fan, I use it, and it is nice, but next time I'll get a different color (without sparkles).

I have to be very careful when applying this color--it always seems like the first pass doesn't quite get enough color, but then fifteen minutes later I'll see myself in the mirror and it can almost look like I over-applied if I'm not careful. I think it's because it's a gloss instead of an opaque lip color, but it can be deceptively light, and I think it takes a little while for the full effect to really work itself out. Still, it's a gorgeous color. I haven't had to sharpen mine yet; I know that's a complaint on beauty blogs, but when I do, I plan to freeze it for a few minutes to try to reduce wastage.

Nice, subtle color for everyday use. I have blonde hair and light/tan skin and it works well with my complexion. For weekend nights out, I wear Nars Velvet Matte in Bahama which is darker and more noticeable. I can imagine that this color would look nice on anyone giving them just a hint of color and a nice shine.

I cannot find anyway to sharpen or advance the pencil. As a result, I find it a waste of money.

Taking off a star because I am still trying to figure out the best way to sharpen this lip pencil without losing half of the product. Love the color and how it feels!

There is no equal to this product in any form. It's a stay on colored gloss. More pigment than any other & I've tried millions. It's great being able to purchase here.
