Cloudray 2-Phase Stepper Motor Driver DM422S 0.3-2.2A 18-48VDC 1/128 for CNC Nema 17 Stepper Motor

This is an excellent driver for medium to high current motors. Steps down to 25,000 steps/rev, simple wiring, good quality housing ("Voltage" is misspelled on the pin map, which is a bit awkward), runs motors more quietly than a TB6600 based driver.Problem: does not accept 3.3v signal. It is completely unresponsive. This is contrary to the documentation provided:"Signal Level: 3.3~24V Compatible; Serial Resistance， Not Necessary for The Application of PLC."This is not an issue if you have a bi-directional level shifter, or are handy enough with basic electronics to wire up a 5v line with transistors, but without these mitigations, my driver is non-function at 3.3v.

Came as a silver colored SmartRayC, not the Cloudray described. But specs on the case are the same right down to the "Valtage" misspelling. Ran a 4.2A NEMA 23 motor with a 60V power supply. Driver is well ventilated in and indoor setting. Worked well initially, but after 5 months and about 40 hours run time, began to lock up occasionally or skip pulses repeatedly. Replaced it with higher quality driver and problems are gone. Would not buy it again.

The most important thing about this driver is how well it drives a stepper motor. There is no noise as a result of no vibration even when I set the amperage that would overdrive the motor. It is also very convenient that the rms amperage is shown on the dip switch table. These drivers are so smooth and quiet they are really worth the additional money. I have replaced all of my TB6600 with these. The TB6600 are really not good for a series of reasons. I definitely highly recommend this driver.

This is the most cost effective stepper driver I've found that can handle higher voltages. On my machine, it outperformed $180 drives. It doesn't require any software tuning to take full advantage of the driver, so it was very simple to install.

Exactly what you want for nema 23 motors. Those tb6600 drivers are junk.

I was shocked. Yeah, they will run hot since you're pumping constant current at all times, but oh my god, finally a simple controller to replace a $2k servo drive.

Works well. Using nema 23 425oz steppers.

Has performed very well. Using to drive a large stepper. No problems so far using a 48 vdc supply on a high torque stepper. Control is great.

This dropped into my laser cutter and worked perfectly (after adjusting the jumper switches) I had bought 5 other cheaper DM542's which all caused a misalignment issue as they gradually lost steps. Definitely recommend spending the relatively small amount extra to get cloudray quality.

The driver is working fine. Sadly the Chart for Dipswitchsettings is not correct. I need 5000 microsteps but in order to get those i need to set the dipswitch to 4000 steps. Also i cant figure out how to set the Motorcurrent correctly. If i set it to 5,3 Amps to stepper is getting crazy hot. The same Motor will not heat up nearly as much with a Leadshinedriver set to 5,3 Amps. I Hope Cloudray will send me the proper settings chart.

Funktioniert bestens auf meinem Berger und Lahr Schrittmotor. Habe aber noch nicht alles austesten können.

No consigo regular la velocidad del motor cambiando la frecuencia de los pulsos en +Pul -Pul, el motor gira pero siempre a la misma velocidad.

La gestion du courant semble efficace. Il ne chauffe pas trop pour mon domaine d'utilisation.Attention: ce n'est pas 18-50VDC mais bien 24V-50V à fournir. Il ne marche pas avec 20V.Le datasheet est disponible sur le web et est très complet.Dimensions à vérifier pour l'application: pas si petit que cela.
