Way Better Than I Imagined....Very Happy With The FitDesk!!
I received my FitDesk late yesterday and already logged over 31 miles. In fact, I am typing this review while cycling.. The assembly was easy for me (50 YO Female) - took about 1 to 1.5 hours from receiving the box to sitting on the machine. The packaging was great and the unit is extremely sturdy. The desktop is perfect for my 11" laptop and my mouse to sit next to it, along with my phone. However, I did order the expandable desktop because I work from home and am behind my computer for 8-12+ hours per day so I need more space to have more things around me, i.e. notepads, remote controls, drink cups, etc. The desktop expander will be here later this week. The laptop is very stable and doesn't move at all with regard to wanting to slip off the desktop or bouncing while I am cycling. The rubber mat on the desktop is a very non-slip surface. The unit is very quiet and in fact, I hear nothing really. My laptop fan is louder than the flywheel or whatever the mechanism is called. I would imagine this would work in any office or cubicle without anyone being the wiser, unless they actually see you on it. The seat is nice and large but is going to take some time to get used to. I wish there was a way to install a bench seat in place of the model that comes with the unit. However, I went ahead and ordered a gel padded seat cover to try instead of the fluffy towel I am currently using. As with any cycling, I am sure it just takes some getting used to because at the gym, I typically walk on the treadmill or use the elliptical where I am standing. Some of the reviews have complained about the backrest not being able to lean back a little. I find that my posture is perfect on this because before I was mostly working from the couch with my laptop on my lap and found that I was slumping over at the neck and shoulders causing a lot of strain and stress on my neck. With the FitDesk I am sitting straight up and have no problem reaching my laptop with perfect posture. You can lean forward a little on the armrests and push the desktop away from you if you want a different position. Then to sit up straight, you just pull the desktop back toward you. I was a little confused that this was capable of happening before assembling the unit, but maybe I missed that in the description and reviews?I haven't had a chance to try this with my Fitbit Charge HR to see how accurate the workout meter is because the Fitbit battery was dead. The fact that meter is located behind my computer screen is a plus for me, because in the gym I find myself staring at the distance, time, calories, etc. prolonging the workout and feeling like it is never going to be enough to finally finish. With the FitDesk, I just work away and then shocked at how long I have been cycling when I decide to finally look at it. I do get winded and sweat somewhat if I set the tension higher and cycle faster so no doubt I am receiving a workout. It's not like a spin class but then again, I could never get my work done on my computer while in a spin class. It still beats just sitting on my rear on the sofa while working and doing nothing for my health.Overall, I am extremely happy with the FitDesk with the exception of the sore derriere. Can't wait until the desktop expanders and gel seat cover arrive. Just FYI, I was not paid or offered any discounts to post this review and I rarely ever post reviews for anything. Just your ordinary consumer finally happy with a purchased product.Give it a try, you most likely will not be disappointed!

I love the FitDesk 2
Update: After owning this product for almost a year I had enjoyed it very much and was thinking of buying 1 as a gift for a friend. So when I was reading the reviews I was surprised to see my review was the number 1 rated on the page. This was exciting so I thought well let me give an update to the product after using it for 1 year. Here are my detailed experiences. I hope you enjoy. #1 reason to buy - gets a lot of use. I was quite surprised how much I use this FitDesk. I would estimate I use this bike for 2-3 hours a day and about 4 days a week. This is more than I have used any exercise bike before, so I really recommend this for that reason...and others.Comfort - the saddle and bike design work well for me. I had read reviews on other bikes about comfort issues and was a little concerned this would be like that. Happy to say that after a little time in the saddle I got use to it and have no more issues getting on and riding for long periods. I remember the first few weeks I used a pair of padded bike shorts to help with adjusting to so much exercise time.Desk use - I like the non slip surface and overall quality of this part. I learned that I could bring the computer closer to me so I could lean back by placing the computer on both the desk and armrest at the same time. We have the optional wide desk kit they sell. It has helped me have room for a mouse and my morning coffee. This seems to be sold separate but is nice.Reliable- my family and I have used this for almost a year at an average of 60 hours a month. The odometer has turned over once and at 5737miles now. So with over 15,000 miles of use and really no maintenance I would be confident to say it had performed quite well. Still very quiet and looks like new.So I am sitting here pedaling on my new FitDesk 2 and thinking I really need to write a review. This is not my favorite thing to do but I feel I need to tell people about this product. So what I have found is that it really works great for both my fitnessand my ability to get the extra things done, like sending a letter or email. This was a pleasant surprise and I look forward to using it more everyday as part of my daily routine. After having the FitDesk for a while I wonder how I lived without it. Here is my list that I think will help others know what to expect.Pros:Comfortable Saddle and back rest with easy "pull" height adjustment knobDesk Surface is extra gripping and slides back and forth to adjust to my height of 6'2" and my wife at 5'6"Drawer under desk is nice touchUltra quiet and smooth pedaling also resistance level can be set very highArm exercise bands are great and easy to useMassager is nice feature and I do use itFeels stable when riding and no shaking screenFolds up easy and rolls on wheels to make putting away fastBEST OF ALL "I use it daily" unlike other exercise equipment I have triedCons:Meter is simple, but keeps information so is easy to useWould like other color optionNeed 2 so I don't have to ask my wife if I can use it nowGreat product, highly recommend because I am amazed at how much I use the product.

Disappointed
VERY UPSET WITH THIS COMPANY AND THE PRODUCT!!!!! We got this for my husband who works from home. After using it once, the pedal broke so you can't use the pedal strap anymore (see picture). I tried to contact the company and got no response. Pretty disappointed as it would be a big pain to disassemble the bike to return it to Amazon.....UPDATE: I got a hold of the company. They are shipping us a new pedal, but I was told that it is very common for the strap piece to break off and it is NOT covered under warranty because "they would be shipping out millions of pedals all of the time." Wow.....completely unimpressed! Customer support also told me to not use the straps because it is more comfortable, but we find it very difficult to use without the straps.....not a good purchase!

Crap quality ruins a good product
March 2018 Update: Bike completely broke while using it. Useless. What happened was (from my inspection once I opened the gear case) is that a washer went bad and this was holding a pulley in place from what I can tell. Gradually this just came completely off rending the tensioner useless since the belt cannot be used. The pedals run with zero resistance now so its pretty much a clothes hanger. I'm ordering a replacement but from a different manufacturer as I am sick of Fitdesk's quality issues.Jan 2017 Update:I actually bought a 3rd bike but not as an addition. Instead it was a replacement for the 2nd bike that I bought and installed at home after Amazon said they would refund me for it's belt shredding to pieces after only a month of use. Fitdesk had said that Amazon UK were responsible for all UK sales and Amazon UK indeed agreed to refund me. It was just a hassle. Here's the surprise though: this 3rd bike came with pedals with screws that were too small for the cranks! I don't know how this happened but luckily I had a small unused under desk bike that I scavenged for its pedals and that I am now using but thins was such a strange experience. Reading the reviews here and on the US site it seems to be chronic so buyer beware. This is still a great product when its working and I still recommend it but am lopping of a star here for all the hassle. I am also attaching photos of the premature damage to the 2nd bike.===========Original review:I rarely rate anything five stars but I will do with this product since when I'm using it I'm always surprised how it keeps me active during time when I would have been most likely sedentary at my desk or couch doing work. It doesn't interfere with a lot of my work either. Measuring with Apple Watch Activity App shows that I've burnt 270 'active calories' in an hour (ie. excluding normal sedentary calories that would bring it up to around 380/hour if you compared to your typical gym cardio machine). I'd also add this is on the 4 setting on a scale of 1 to 8 that feels quite easy to me. My fitness level is above average but nothing exceptional.i wanted to take off a star for how long it took to assemble but then that's just one hour one time for something that works brilliantly. i think i read somewhere that amazon has a product assembly paid service and this is where i'd have wanted to use it. if you have the time then great but if you're a busy person then assembly can be a drag if you want it done carefully.definitely a great way to build fitness habits for people who are too busy and work out of home. at least if you miss your dedicated workouts you've still been active. i will update in a few months if i have more to share.

This is a great product and a very necessary one
This is a great product and a very necessary one. It has served to eliminate the backache I suffered after being seated in front of a screen for long hours. I use it on a daily basis.A couple of points for Fitdesk's future consideration and to improve an already good product : the desk top wouldn't need to be a lot bigger to accommodate a mouse, it would save on having to buy the extensions at supplementary cost. A rapid release for the desk top would have been welcome too, for storage purposes.I had a problem with the bearing which broke but Fitdesk were wonderful, they sent me a new main frame very rapidly and their service was fast, courteous and friendly. I wasn't without my Fitdesk for long.

So far so good
Only just arrived but I like the instruction leaflet that was clear. It is sturdier than I feared and stable when pedalling. I like the quiet which enables radio / music to be listened to as pedalling. Not yet worked out how to make best use of the tracking device but gives me something to play with! My wife who is 5 feet struggles to reach the pedals but I like the variable saddle and so far find the seat very comfortable compared to a typical bike saddle. Am pleased donations to schools are made.

Game changer!
--EDITBig warning for the men AND women wanting to use this. Sitting on a bike seat, even the wide one supplied with this desk, can absolutely cause erectile dysfunction for men and general decrease in sensation in the clitoris and vagina for women. I was getting numb genitals and having to get off and walk around frequently. Erection quality and sex drive since getting this product have plummeted.. yes, well after getting off the bike for the day. It got to a point where I considered seeing a doctor until I put 2+2 together and stopped using this desk. A few days later my ED was significantly improved but not 100%. There is a possibility of permanent nerve damage however I think I caught it in time..If you use this, PAY ATTENTION to your genitals. DO NOT let them go numb and if they do, cease use immediately. You may need to sit differently on it or restrict hours used. Manufacturer should put a clear warning in place before someone gets permanently injured and starts a lawsuit. If you plan to spend long hours on this desk then make absolutely sure you configure it and sit so that your bones directly support your weight rather than nerves and arteries.--EDIT #2All problems resolved within a month. Just take care to sit on it properly and if you get sore then take a break rather than shifting the weight around to a spot that isn't sore.-- Original review:If you are like me and are constantly bouncing your knees, getting up to pace around, just generally feeling restless and you work a desk job.. This is for you! Given the choice to pedal or not to pedal.. I am always pedaling. Never thought I'd be able to make a desk job into something healthy and active. Also it really helps my posture but without feeling forced or having to think about it. Super comfy but for long hours needs a gel seat. Also the extender is a must for mouse+keyboard.

Amazing product, Amazing idea, and Amazing Customer Support
There are two components to a product: The actual product itself, and the company behind it. In this case, both are exceptional. The product: Assembly was as simple as it could be - each step in the assembly for the most part has all of the necessary parts and screws packaged together. So you want to do step 2? Well find the main part, and all of the stuff you need to install it are right there. Only improvement would be if each bag were labelled by the step but I'm splitting hairs here.I had a few minor issues with the components (got 2 left brackets instead of a right and left for the drawer), but this was remedied by customer support (see company comments below). The desk surface is excellent and you won't have anything slip off it - very grippy. The forearm bar is comfortable, and holds my weight even if I'm leaning on it. The mechanism to adjust the angle to 3 different settings and tighten leaves something to be desired but given this won't be changed much it's not a big deal. The in-and-out adjustability is simple and useful as well.Resistance can be changed simply with a knob. It's not fancy, its a mechanical tightening, but it gets the job done just perfectly, so it doesn't need to be perfect. Maximum resistance is a challenge (I can legpress 450lb for reference), and minimum is very easy. The electronic tracker is rudimentary and being an engineer myself I have a list of things I would do differently if I designed it from a user perspective, but again, it works just fine and tracks your time/distance. The units are somewhat confusing at first but I don't find it to be a big deal. I found that you could put it in one of the slots on the side of the desk if you wanted to have a few books or something extending past where the normal tracker position would be (see pictures). The unit folds up to take up less space, and it is stable when I am riding (grips do a good job). there are wheels on one leg so you can move it. Make sure to regularly check the tightness of the fasteners; the manual has recommended check times for each component.Currently I've been using it while reading, studying and writing on a tablet, and playing video games using a controller while leaning on the bar/desk. It's been comfortable and sturdy. Overall, the product does exactly what I wanted it to. Got me to stop sitting motionless and end up sitting for the rest of my life. Sitting sucks and will only get worse - this is a great idea and works perfectly. You forget you're on a bike.COMPANY: As I said, I had a few issues with parts during assembly, all related to non-core functions of the bike (a bracket, 2 screws, etc). I emailed the company and got a very prompt reply and they took care of everything and are sending me replacement parts as we speak. Spoke to Don from customer service and it was a very good experience.Companies that stand behind their products and go out of their way to make sure their customers are experiencing what they are supposed to are the companies you want to support. I was very pleased to deal with the company, even given the minor problems I had. Also, I received the bike from amazon more-or-less next day with free shipping. Can't beat that.I look forward to replacing my sitting hours with biking sessions. My body will thank me down the road.

Amazing product. Amazing customer service.
Just purchased my second FitDesk -- that's how much I love it. I keep one bike at my permanent home and the other at my vacation home, because I don't want to be without it for even a day. Honestly, there was already an exercise bike here at my vacation home, but it was bulky and cumbersome, and can't be wheeled wherever I want it to be like the FitDesk. Quite frankly, once you've used a bike like this, you simply can't go back to standard exercise bikes without a built-in desk. I tried and was irritated that there was no place to put anything, and that my only choice was to stare at a wall. The FitDesk allows so much versatility that standard bikes don't. The desk is big enough for me to prop up my iPad, my phone and all the remotes i could possibly need on a slip-proof rubber surface. Genius! I used to go to a gym that had a "tablet shelf", but the vibrations would cause the phone/iPad to slowly shift towards the edge and eventually fall off. With this machine, everything stay put. It's easy to get carried away and spent two-to-three hours on this thing, Googling away, Facebooking, watching Netflix on my iPad, or getting down to some actual work. If I feel like a change, I can wheel it in front of the TV and play video games. Every time I have something time consuming to do, I jump on the bike and POOF: workout done simultaneously. And why not? I'm going to be sitting there anyway, right? Might as well keep my feet going. At this rate, I will probably get a third FitDesk for the office. It comes mostly assembled (meaning the hard parts -- the mechanics -- are already put together in the box) so all you have to do yourself is attach the feet, the seat, the pedals, and the desk, which is easy enough for a child to understand. I put both units together in about twenty minutes each. Maybe less. I was up and riding in 30 minutes flat, that's for sure -- and I've been using it every day ever since. What's most impressive is the customer service. I had a question about the battery-operated monitor and received a reply from the CEO within a matter of minutes, in the middle of the night. Now, I can't personally guarantee that this kind of service will happen for everyone, or that it will remain this way as the company grows in size, but I respect a company that takes pride in its product and the wellbeing of its customers. I've dealt with companies in the past who take your money and then don't give a crap, or they run you in circles for weeks before anything gets done. It's refreshing to deal with someone like this and the company deserves to thrive. I can't recommend this product highly enough. I'm sure I sound like an infomercial, but I'm really that impressed. If I miss a workout even once, I regret it.

Just what I needed
I sit 40hrs a week at a desk for work and don't have time to exercise when the kids are home so wanted some way to get moving during work hours. The fitdesk is perfect! my 15" laptop fits on the desk perfectly and the arm rest bar makes it east to keep your wrists at a comfortable angle while you type and pedal. The resistance levels are quite broad and both me and my husband can get a good workout on it. It folds up easily to stand out of the way. It's a bit heavy to move around (but that's because it's made our of sturdy metal), but I can manage to lug it up and down stairs to different rooms in my house by myself. The exercise bands are a nice touch. I wrapped them around the front of the frame (under the desk) instead of using the hook under the seat because the intended angle makes them rub your hips when you use them, which is annoying (and I'm relatively slim). That's really the only negative point and it's easily fixed.

Good quality, smart idea to boost oppotunities for low impact exercise
Great desk. Can use it as a standing desk or biking. A few small quibbles - it would be better for typing on a laptop if the tray could slide closer to you when you are seated, and it would be nice if it had a holder for a water bottle on the frame (the same way real bikes have water bottle brackets on the frame). But these items are minor. The bike desk is sturdy and quiet. Bought a second of the exact same bike desk as a gift for a family member. We both love our bike desks!UPDATE: year later, still lovin' the bike/desk. Works great, no problems. In response to a question re box size, am adding a picture of the box that lists dimensions and weight.

Great purchase
Very quiet. I use it at home while watching tv/on the computer for about an hour a day. Pedals are more in front than directly underneath, but is still comfortable. Didn't need to use the height extension. Worth it to get off the couch when it's cold outside or I'm feeling lazy.Update:I didn't think I'd actually use it this much, but still going every day after a couple of months. I can even knit while biking now, a formerly sedentary activity. I really like the position of the pedals and armrest, it lends to a straight back naturally and is very comfortable. The seat does get uncomfortable after about an hour however.

Easy to assemble
After researching similar products available, this bike was purchased to become an alternate spot to work or watch a movie while at home. Easy to assemble, well-made and very quiet (no noise from pedaling at all). The seat extension is perfect for taller settings (I am 5'11' and it works well for those >6 ft. also). Very compact, easy to move, desk holds my laptop securely in place, great drawer to keep my phone, pens, earbuds for calls, etc. Overall, an excellent purchase. Keeps the energy levels and focus up during a day of sitting in front of the computer.

As advertised
A few parts are a little cheap and there should be more adjustment for the desk part so that you can move your laptop around better, but otherwise it works fine, good for getting the blood flowing while working/watching Netflix. Does exactly what you'd think. Pretty comfortable too; I wouldn't spend the whole day on it, but it's definitely better than most normal exercise bikes.

Will keep me healthier at work
After receiving two shipments that had the same broken part (the plastic desk itself, which had been damaged in shipment), I finally received a third shipment that was undamaged. It took me about two hours to assemble it; someone in more of a hurry could do it in an hour. The bicycle works very well. It is well designed and sturdy, especially for a relatively inexpensive product. I have quibbles, such as the desk height (I am tall), but overall I am very pleased. I see this more as a way to combat the feeling of having spent the whole day in the office without moving, rather than an exercise device per se.

good idea but I was too small to use it
good idea but I was too small to use it. You can adjust the seat if your legs are short but you can't move the desk in enough to use it with the shorter arms that most people have with short legs! So it just became a bike, which kind of defeated the purpose. I ended up selling it to a lanky colleague who loves it. So if you are long of limb its great, if you aren't don't bother.

Smooth & quiet operation
I got this bike on this past Thursday and put it together in less than an hour. It was relatively easy to do, regardless of the terrible tools included... I used my own and it was easier. This bike is really smooth and extremely quiet. The resistance settings are good as it gets harder quicker than slower. The only thing that I don't like is that the seat seems tilted forward, but I can live with it.I highly recommend this exercise bike!
