Connecting Threads 100% Cotton Thread Sets - 1200 Yard Spools (Set of 5 - Berry Preserves)

In reading other reviews, this thread gets both raves and rants. Most of the rants (complaints) were from those who don't know/aren't familiar with the qualities of 100% cotton thread.While it can be used for all sorts of things, this thread is meant for QUILTING. Not piecing (it's a bit too thick for a perfect 1/4-inch seam) ... QUILTING. And, it does that beautifully. It isn't shiny because it's NOT meant for machine embroidery, although it is perfect for making free-standing lace designs.I have a long-arm quilting set-up. For years, I used Coats Star Cotton in the bobbin and various polyester or rayon embroidery threads on top. This is an odd combo, but I could never get my tension just right to use cotton in the top without a lot of thread breakage and other problems.I hadn't used my quilting system in quite a while. When I decided to set it up again, I wanted fresh thread, so I gave this stuff a try.WOW. I am so glad I did. It works beautifully in the bobbin and through the needle. I have had almost no breakage, except for that caused by user error. Sure, it produces lint, but that's a common issue with cotton thread. I do not feel that the lint is excessive. If you use cotton thread, it is important to clean out your bobbin area and around the needle ... I do it with every bobbin change.I find that the spools have a good amount of thread. I am current working on a twin size quilt. One spool will work for the closely spaced stipple quilting that I am doing from edge to edge, with enough left over to attach/finish the binding.I like this thread so well that I ordered two more sets of the Salt & Pepper combo within days of my first order/use. I'll collect other colors as I need them.

This is excellent thread, in my opinion. I've been using another ubiquitous brand for a decade now and suffered from constant issues with thread lint messing up the internals of my machine. This stuff is cheap, gorgeous and wonderful to sew with. I will be buying only this brand from here on out.Pros:-wonderful quality, smooth thread that has eliminated a lot of tension and stitch quality issues I was having on my machine.-large spool size carries a ton of thread so I get a lot of value for my money. Despite the size, the spool still fits on my machine flawlessly.-I love the color! This was purchased in the middle of COVID when I could only find this color set, but when I opened it I realized how gorgeous the thread is. It's really stunning, pictures don't do it justice. I'll be purchasing more colors in the near future.Cons:None that I can think of, honestly. I highly recommend this if you are a hobbyist sewist that wants to make your pieces more professional on a budget!

After struggling to order thread online from a fabric store and disappointed in the amount and cost per spool, a friend suggested I try Connecting Threads. I ordered the Salt and Pepper 5-spool set knowing that I would easily use the neutral colors. Not only do you get more for the money, the thread works beautifully with my 1982 Kenmore 1340 machine. No skipping, hopping or knotting of the thread which is so common with the more well-known brand that I have always used. I definitely will be ordering more.One concern I had was when I wound a bobbin. The thread spool was so loose on my spool pin that it wobbled and I was grateful it didn't go flying off and hurt someone or something! I searched online for adapters but not wanting to pay over $20 for one and not sure they would work with my machine, I came up with a very easy thread spool hack: A piece of plastic drinking straw, the size you get at a fast food place for milk shakes! I cut a piece to fit over my spoon pin and it works beautifully! I haven't tried it for winding a bobbin yet, but for regular sewing, it worked smoothly without any wobbling. Happy sewing! :)

I needed to find a matching thread for the dress I needed to hem for a wedding and one of these was the perfect match. Since I am a quilter, the other threads will also get used in another project.Would definitely recommend these threads.

This is the second Connecting Threads 100% Cotton Thread set that I have ordered. I previously ordered the Jewel collection and was very satisfied. So far I have not encountered any of the issues that others have complained about. I have not experienced breakage or excessive lint. The colors are vibrant and the feel of the thread is very nice. I have used it to sew through multiple layers of fabric and quilt batting with not difficulty. I do have 2 issues in general. I wish that one of the sets other than the neutrals included a spool of brown. The other issue, which may affect others is that although the claim is that the spools can be used on an ordinary machine, the thread does not fit flush with the bottom of the spindle, making it wobble. I was able to push two of the spools down to the bottom of the plastic tube, which took care of the wobble, but am finding it difficult to do that with some of the colors. The amount of thread on each spool really makes this a bargain.

The colors are bright and the amount of thread on each spool is great. I do a great deal of sewing and having lots of thread per spool is going to be very helpful. After using this thread for several items, I'll add to my review.Since my first purchase, I've added more colors. I am very happy with this thread, as it sews very well. The thread hasn't broken at all in my machine,(a Viking). Also, with so many colors it is easy to match fabric and thread. All in all, a very good purchase.An addition to the previous review: I ordered more colors and am very pleased with the thread and especially the amount of thread on each spool. I was embroidering and the embroidery thread just wouldn't cooperate, so after a period of frustration I used the thread from connecting threads and SUCCESS! I was able to finish the project and it looks great.I've been using connecting threads for several months now and was very pleased to find a set of white and black available and I quickly ordered those colors, as you can never have enough on hand. I find my machine operates very well with Connecting Threads.

Colors are perfect and weight and sturdiness of this thread I’d great. Does have a fair amount of lint but it’s worth the pay off to get these colors. Great value for money.

Beautiful colours! I almost finished the cream spool but it didn't break even once. I already bought a few more on their own website, and I will buy some again in the future.
