Aerosmith Let the Music Do the Talking… And I’m Still Listening
Is this the “Ultimate” history of Aerosmith? Of course, not… You would need a fifty-volume set rather than a 50th Anniversary Edition to include their high times (and lows) and thousands of photos to even capture a glimpse of their legacy and longevity. This book is not intended to be a biography and if you are seeking more Aerosmith anecdotes and history then there are many other bios to choose from on Amazon. I will say, author Richard Bienstock assembled a great, coffee table style collectible book that would make the perfect gift for any true Aerosmith fan. Aerosmith: The Ultimate Illustrated History of the Bad Boys from Boston covers all the key points and is a great trip down memory lane. I remember them on TV as a kid at California Jam.I was also one of the fortunate ones to grow up on Aerosmith and see them in concert, play their music in bands and truly appreciate their contribution to Rock music. They were, still are, and will forever be, like The Rolling Stones, one of the quintessential rock bands of all time.Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, the self-proclaimed “Toxic Twins,” were indeed mad, bad and dangerous to know. They were the “Ultimate” rock band and influenced bands like Guns N’ Roses. What set Aerosmith apart in the ’70s is that they were not trying to be Led Zeppelin or anyone else for that matter, but they were, like Led Zeppelin, solid electrified blues. From their debut album with “Dream On” to old R & B classics like “Walking the Dog,” they poured new wine into old bottles and I don’t think there is one rock guitarist to this day that hasn’t referenced “Rocks” as one of their favorite albums.Aerosmith Let the Music Do the Talking and I’m still listening in 2020. Are you?

Forever
It's hard to believe the band is still going after all these years. After all these decades! But they continue to rock. I've had the chance to meet members of the band, see some behind-the-scenes stuff, know some common friends. Their story is as rock 'n' roll as it gets, from breakups and squabbles to the highs of awards and unexpected collaborations to eternal superstardom. This book captures it all, and in blazing color. Every page is designed to catch the eye, to bring more than just the words that tell their amazing tale. The book is populated with everything a rock book should have: poster art, tickets, album covers and more, reaching well beyond just the photos of the band. The book updates their story through the plans for the 50th anniversary concert at Fenway Park in Boston - to which I had tickets before the pandemic shut everything down. God willing the boys will be back to write another chapter in this book, as they say at the end that it will take something physical, like actually not being able to get on stage, that will be the only thing that will deter them from continuing into the future.

A toy for your coffee table, not your attic.
Hardback/non-fiction: Back in the 70s, I used to read Circus magazine. It was a rock magazine that had lots of concert pictures of all the big, heavier groups (think more Zeppelin & Sabbath and no Osmond or Sherman). Anyway, I always cringed at the up close pictures of performers sweating.I had to laugh when in the first 20 pages or so, there's several pictures of Steven Tyler up in front, sweating out a fifth of alcohol. Brought back so many memories. I also noticed as time goes by that the guys sweat less. Three decades later and they barely sweat. This book was so fun and F-I-N-E fine.It is coffee table size and heavy. It goes through the drug-laden 70s, the breakup 80's, and the back in the saddle 90's and beyond.

Aerosmith fans of all ages will find this book very interesting. It's chock full of old photos and memorabilia from their colorful 50 years. Been a fan since day one, so there is endless facts and figures to give you a time frame reference to these guy's rise to the top. It is amazing to see how much they have changed but how much they *haven't* changed. The reviews of their biggest albums are a good read. The price is pretty good since it's a big book.
