ZillaMounting Spring Clip, Fits Most Lighting Domes

I purchase these for all of our terrariums in order to combat our curious cat and rambunctious dog and I suspect they’ll come in handy when we have our next earthquake. It’s also nice not to have to take hot lamps off the top whenever we open a lid.Although they work great for heavy duty screen tops, they don’t appear to have been developed for the finer window-type screening which many companies (including Exo Terra) use for their terrariums. The space between the wires on the lids is the same as the diameter of the wire that Zilla uses for their springs which makes installing them a pain. Because the spring clips put a considerable amount of tension on the lid in order to keep the lights in place, the screen can also tear out easily. To get around this, we either use pieces of circuit board or large diameter washers underneath the screen and attach the clips to those. Both solutions dissipate the pressure over a larger area so the screen is not damaged (see photos).We also modify the spring clips so we can lock down LED strips and fluorescent hoods along with the single and double dome fixtures. I’ve included photos of these, too. Overall, although they are well made and sturdy, I wish they came in multipacks–they get pricey (especially for what they are) when you have multiple terrariums (we use an average of four sets per tank)– and they could be a bit more user friendly. I’ll definitely purchase more as needed, though, as I consider them a necessary accessory.

These are absolutely amazing! I wish I had known about them a long time ago. My cats are obsessed with climbing on the tank and laying up there because it’s warm. One day I came home and they had knocked a lamp off against the wall and it was smoking.. my husband was asleep and pets were all home. It could have been a disaster if I didn’t come home when I did. This gives me so much peace of mind!!! The lights are securely fixed to the tank now and there’s no way the cats can burn the house down. They’re also inexpensive and took two seconds to pop onto the lights. You NEED these if you have reptiles!

I bought these because I was having issues with the lamp either sliding around when I opened the terrarium lid or having to find a safe place to put the lamp (which would still be hot) while opening the terrarium, to avoid a fire hazard. This way I can leave the lamp on without worrying about it falling off while lifting the lid as well as not having to worry about pets or people accidentally knocking it off.It is easy to use and fits various sizes of reptile lamps (though it may not fit all of them).

I like the Zilla concept of attaching lamps directly to the to screen. This allows me to do that on other lamp fixtures. I was a bit worried at first with the size of my fixture - a cage style for ceramic emitters that is kind of tall compared to the Zilla fixtures. But the ring fit right on, and the springs have a lot of stretch to reach the screen. These have a simple design, are easy to install and really work. I recently had to move an office lizard home due to the pandemic and working from home. I was really worried my cat would accidentally knock the lamps onto my carpet, causing a fire hazard. These literally slip over the top of the lamp and quickly clip to the lid. I have lifted the lid off my tank for daily feedings and they lamps both stay in place - not even an inch of movement.

These are a safety must have for tanks that have glass lamps that sit on the top of the tank cover. If you have pets, especially cats or medium/big dogs, children, and clumsy adults you need these. They go on the lamp and easily attach to the mesh cover of the tank. They are not as easy to get off which is great. Also great price. Highly recommend.

Like most people searching for this product, I have two cats and work. I was terrified about my cats knocking over my dome light for bearded dragon and causing damage or even a fire. After a quick internet search, I found this product, and seriously, the dome lights should just come with them in the box! These are a quintessential safety product! I recommend these to everyone. You may have to bend the actual clips slightly for your exact situation, but they are perfect!
