Nursing NinaOur sweet little great niece, Nora, just turned five. She wanted NURSING NINA so badly -- even though she owns two real dogs, she wanted this cat and her nursing kittens! When she reached into her gift bag and pulled it out, NINA automatically became the hit of Nora's birthday party!Made very well, this cat and her kittens will receive plenty of love from your little one. If you wished, you could answer any of their questions about animals/humans nursing their young. When we asked Nora what the kittens were doing, she looked at us as if we were nuts and said THEY ARE EATING DINNER!This toy is made very well. The kittens connect with magnets which are securely embedded inside each cat so they may attach to NINA. Both mama and her three little kittens are soft, durable, and probably will have washing directions attached; I did not think to look at any washing directions when the gift was in my possession.There is also a NURSING NANA dog with her three little puppies that is also available. This toy is cute as the dickens and can help any questions your kids may throw at you!Very cool gift for your special little girl!

*UPDATE* We loved the kitty so much that we purchased the bunny too and it’s absolutely adorable. It comes with teeny tiny baby bunnies. These plushies are SO cute that you can’t help but love them!Initial Review: Purchased for my child and it is so incredibly soft and huggable. The teeny kittens are the most precious thing. The “smile” on Mama kittys face is just so satisfying to see like she’s a proud and loving mama cat. The kittens are soft and the magnets are perfect to attach the babies mouths when they feed from the mom. Very sweet little gift. There is a Momma’s Milk paperback kids book that goes along so nicely with this and makes a great gift.

The media could not be loaded. Good gracious, this is a wonderful toy! I knew right away it would be perfect for my 3yo who loves cats and also tries to nurse her dolls. Seems to be excellent quality. Mama cat is soft and squishy. There are 6 magnetic teats, and I would love to find more kittens! The only improvement I would make (and have thought about doing myself) is to make mama cats belly Velcro to be able to put the kittens inside. I found this while searching for Kitty Surprise. Will update after Christmas, but I expect this is the gift to beat.

I ordered this product for my daughter's second birthday, in combination with the Spanish-English book, "Mama's Milk," by Michael Elsohn Ross, illustrated by Ashley Wolff, and I'm very glad I did. My daughter, who is still nursing, went nuts when she opened her gifts and wanted to play with the Nina Cat and kittens immediately! She begged me to read the book to her right away, too, while she practiced attaching the kittens to the little pink "teats" on the mama. It is an ingenious and adorable creation, as are most toys from Manhattan Toy Company.We got a black kitten, not a gray one as shown, and this one is her favorite of the three. She carries it around with her and cuddles it at night. The cat is soft and huggable like a pillow; its fur is very soft like suede. It is the perfect size for a toddler. The kittens are well-crafted and tiny, about as big as my toddler's hand. They all have their own satin-colored collars, which are sewn on.I like that the mama cat is stuffed with soft plush poly-fill, except for her feet, which contain beads, to give them a more natural "heaviness," and her tail has no stuffing, so it is not stiff. My daughter and I also like the realistic detail of the pink paw pads and the six pink magnetic teats for the kittens to be attached to.This is a very sweet and unique toy for any child who loves baby animals! It is also educational for introducing and promoting breastfeeding as a normal and beneficial way of feeding our children. The Nursing Nina Cat would also be a wonderful toy to feature at WIC Clinics, doctor's offices, hospital waiting rooms and maternity wards, day care centers, libraries, and for the breastfeeding consultant's waiting room.The only things I would change are the type of material the whiskers are made of, and the way the kittens are attached to the mother with tagging plastic things. The whiskers are a type of black, waxy, corded thread which unravels, and sticks straight up instead of lying down against the cheeks like normal whiskers. Instead they look like odd, spidery growths. I'm wondering if I can tame them with a curling iron without damage. But the kittens' whiskers do this, too.As for tagging the kittens to the mother, the fabric was ripped at one of the tag sites on our cat, so there was a small hole. I didn't have the heart to return the whole toy to exchange it, for my daughter had bonded instantly with these cats! And there was no guarantee the next one wouldn't have the same problem. So I got out the needle and thread and mended the hole. It is barely noticeable.Overall, I give it a 9 out of 10, and I wouldn't let the whiskers or tags stop me from purchasing it again for another child in the future. My daughter is thrilled with it. I highly recommend purchasing it in combination with the book, "Mama's Milk" (see my review for that item).

I got this for my 2 year old son who’s a big fan of cats, “cat” being one of his first words, and he loves it. He got to witness first hand the beauty of a nursing cat twice, now. And he’s always been very good about not touching the kittens but he would watch us help them latch. He was very interested so when I came across this, I thought it was perfect for him to be more involved in the process through pretend play. The soft magnet system is similar to the Baby Stella doll and there are six nipples available. This makes for a great teaching toy as well as a snuggly stuffed animal.

Bought this for my 3 year old when our newly adopted cat had kittens - figured this would be ideal to help him practice being gentle, and sure enough it’s worked out great! He loves to cuddle the kittens and make them “kiss” (the magnets in their noses will stick to one another, as well as to Mama’s nipples), and each night he tucks them in with mama cat and falls asleep with them next to him. It’s not life size so in my opinion it is a little on the expensive side for what it is - but I love Manhattan Toys, it’s adorable as anything, and there’s really nothing else out there quite like this.

Jättefin katt, är planerad som julklapp så vet inte hur min dotter gillar den än men den ser väldigt söt och fin ut. Älskar hur kattungarna diar.Den var mindre än vad jag trodde, men det är ju på mig som inte kollade måtten.

Aggiornamento 2020: è piaciuto così tanto, sia a me che alla bimba, che ne ho ordinato un altro appena ha cominciato a dare i primi segni di usura, per non rimanere senza in caso di smarrimento / rottura, o per avere un sostituto se bisogna metterlo a lavare. Sono rimasta piacevolmente sorpresa nel notare che la nuova versione è senza baffi di filo, che mi sembravano un po' pericolosi per una bimba piccola. Così ora ne ha una versione coi baffi, che può usare da più grande, visto che le piacciono perché le fanno il solletico, e una senza, più appropriata per il periodo in cui mettono tutto in bocca. E se uno preferisce i baffi, farli mettere da una nonna che sa cucire non dovrebbe essere difficile! Molto carino e educativo, la bimba ha già capito cosa rappresenta e quando lo vede fa il segno del latte. Il tessuto è di quel tipo di vellutino che non attira troppo i pelucchi, ottima cosa dato che abbiamo molti animali domestici. La mia bimba di un anno ha la fissa per i gatti(quelli veri) , ogni volta che ne vede uno cerca di acchiapparlo e tirargli i baffi, ma loro ovviamente scappano o reagiscono male e perciò purtroppo, finché non sarà abbastanza grande per coccolarli senza fargli male, dovremo tenerli separati. Questo giocattolo le da dei babaccetti a forma di gatto con cui può giocare senza rischi di mangiare del pelo o di prendersi una graffiata.I gattini si attaccano alla mamma tramite delle calamite cucite appena sotto il tessuto, e la mamma gatta ha dei cerchietti di tessuto rosa che rappresentano i capezzoli.Gli unici 2 difetti che ho riscontrato finora sono:1) uno dei magneti nei capezzoli deve essere stato messo al contrario, perché invece di attaccarsi al gattino lo "respinge" e il gattino rimane attaccato leggermente sfalsato rispetto al cerchio rosa (v. Foto)Un difetto minore, di cui la bambina di certo non si accorgerà o non le importerà niente, quindi non metto meno stelle né faccio il reso per una piccolezza simile.2)Un altro piccolo difetto di progettazione è che il peluche è molto molle e ha poca imbottitura, e quindi il rivestimento esterno è molto "mobile", al punto che ogni tanto i capezzoli di mamma gatta si attaccano l'uno all'altro, con dei risultati esteticamente molto strani(v. Altra foto).Nessuno di questi piccoli difetti pregiudica il funzionamento del giocattolo, quindi metto comunque 5 stelle.
