Works every time, and is so much better and faster than a chemical drain cleaner
Despite consistent use of a hair filter, something occurred which clogged up my main shower, suddenly leaving a couple inches of standing water. Unfortunately I could not quickly unclog the drain with a flexible hair remover, or small drain snake like normal, so I used a jug of a popular brand maximum-strength liquid gel drain cleaner which accomplished nothing after 6 hours (I don't know why I bothered wasting time on drain cleaner). I used to have a Drain King I bought ~25 years ago and have used a few times over the years so I was confident this would do the job, but I couldn't quickly find it so I opted to get another one. With Amazon's next day delivery I soon had a new one in hand. The design and use of this new one is exactly how I remember and the results were equally quick to achieve and long-lasting.One usage suggestion is to remember to put a 1/4-turn ball-valve shut-off in line with the hose and Drain King device to enable quick water supply turn-off (just in case anything goes wrong like not having a firm grip on the Drain King and letting it back out of the clogged drain spraying water, or such as causing a backflow through a nearby drain upstream of the clog). I was prepared for this by plugging the nearby sinks and tub (since I wasn't sure where the clog was actually located), inserting the Drain King deeply, and holding it firmly. Once set up, I turned on the water supply for 5 seconds to let the Drain King pressurize the drain pipe, then I turned it off to confirm everything was as expected. The drain was already beginning to flow after zero flow for >24 hours. I re-installed the Drain King and turned it on for 15 seconds then removed it. The drain was flowing like new and the shower quickly emptied. I repeated with the Drain King one more time for 60 seconds, then put everything away. Weeks later everything is still perfect and I reminded myself I could probably proactively do this once per year as preventative maintenance on problem drains and never have to deal with a clogged drain again.Thank you Drain King for a cost-effective, quality, and easy-to-use product.(By the way, the feature ratings include a question about Suction Power which is not relevant to a Drain King device. I suggest removing the question or changing it to something relevant.)

DIY Plumbing Help--A+!
This funny looking device is a priceless help to anyone needing to clear an Air Conditioner Drain. You didn't know your Air Conditioner even HAD a drain? Good for you. I just learned that they DO, after carpet in our hallway got wet. Wet carpet? From what? Tracing the puddle back to its source, I got a quick education on something your A/C Technician already knows about.Somewhere, under the whole house air conditioner unit (you'll probably find this behemoth in a utility closet in your hallway), there is something called a "drain pan." This drain pan catches the moisture that evaporates out of the cooling mechanism for an air conditioner, called an Evaporator Coil. Condensed moisture drains off this evaporator coil and into the drain pan, which actually has plumbing attached to drain the excess water collected into it and out of your house. UNTIL IT BACKS UP. Then, you get a puddle on the floor, like I did.THIS IS HOW YOU FIX THAT PROBLEM. Your A/C drain can get plugged up with either 1. Algae or 2. Calcification/Mineralization or 3. Both. You can knock out the algae by pouring a little bleachwater into your drain. I've since learned most A/C people recommend you treat your drain this way about every 6 months. That's what they charge you to do, when they "flush your system." If you have more minerals than algae, you need to use a little CLR Jelmar CL-4 CLR 128-oz. Calcium, Lime & Rust Remover to dissolve the minerals in the PVC drain, then rinse with water. It's best to then fully clear the drain with a device like this. The way we fixed ours was: a little bleachwater (which didn't clear the blockage), added a bit at a time till the drain worked a bit (this is added directly into the PVC drain, NOT into the A/C's drain pan). Realizing that algae wasn't the root cause of our drain blockage, we waited for the bleach to clear, rinsed the drain slowly, then added 1/4 cup of CLR, which opened the drain further. Once it was draining a bit, we bought this, added a bit of CLR again, waited 10 minutes, then inserted this little device fully into the PVC pipe (after screwing a water hose onto the end), then turned on the water to finish "cleaning" the drain. (Just a note: in our case, the PVC drain has TWO inlets/access points. We blocked the lower one's 90 degree coupling (which feeds back into the A/C unit drain pan) with a stuffed rag temporarily during this procedure, just to prevent any possible backflushing--look at your own setup & you'll see what I mean. Alternatively, you could use this device in that drain inlet, as well, as long as it's long enough to totally block that 90 degree coupling; I'd still advise using a rag or PVC plug to temporarily plug the other inlet, just as backflushing insurance). It worked like a champ; the water flowing out of the hose works to "swell" the rubbery part of this device; while allowing water to flow through it, it doesn't allow any water to 'back up" through the drain. This increased water pressure helps "blow out" any remaining debris plugging the drain. Problem solved! It works great, is easy to use, and does the job with ease. MUCH better and more efficient than just trying to block a water hose with a rag or other leaky, messy solution. This was a quick & easy fix for our A/C drain; highly recommended for quality, utility & value!FYI UPDATE 8-27-15: Just a reminder: two other possible causes of A/C leaks are 1. Dirty Filter 2. Clog in drainpan. A dirty filter is fixed by changing it (see Owner's Manual for your AC). Clogs in drainpans can be prevented by using acid tablets in the drain pan, usually done by an AC technician. DIY options for these are available at Amazon and searches at Google and YouTube can teach you how!

OMG
I have an old custom 1980 home. Septic. The drain for the kitchen is on the far opposite side of the house from the septic. The line goes down from below the bitches sink about 4 feet into the slab and about 60 feet to the main line toward the septic.About twice a year for many years I’ve have to clear it out. I own a 50 foot manual snake that I usually can at least get a hole through the grease and grime. This year it was a special clog. The snake bored a hole in the grease but it wasn’t enough. So I ordered a 75’ 3/8 auto snake. When I completed the order it then showed me this drain king with all the good reviews. I figured $12 for something that sounds reasonable ( 1 1/2” to 3”, currently listed as “no size”).It came just 1 hour ago. I got it hooked up to my 75’ hose and down about 2 feet. I experimented a little and realized all the reviewers were right - shut the water off slowly when testing to see if it worked - or you will get wet. You also should not turn it on outside a pipe. Also, you should make sure it’s in a straight run.I ran it for 15mins with a bunch of dish soap in the line. Holy moly, it worked wonders. The drain behaves differently now, the sound is different like it’s clear clear.Anyhow, truly this product is one of the rare ones that is ACTUALLY 5 stars. Outstanding effectiveness for the price. Simple to use. Genius in concept.Highly recommended.

It works
To think of all the money waisted on products like draino. It leaves you feeling stupid for the years gone by that you’ve spent money on products that are supposed to clear your clogged drain.Fact - you buy this. - you buy an adapter for your faucet so you can attach a garden hose. (It’s although not necessary, it’s handy if you get a short garden hose like 6’ long). - you attach this bladder to your garden hose and the hose to your adapter that you’ve screwed onto your faucet. - you fish the bladder down the drain to where it’ll be inside the drainpipe and turn on the hot waterIt’ll expand creating a seal within the pipe and force the water to clear the pipe of whatever your wife has clogged it up with. It makes an odd noise that’ll make you question if something is wrong. But don’t worry about it, the water isn’t coming up towards you.Let it do it’s thing for a few minutes and turn off the water. The bladder will shrink back to its original shape. Pull it out and return things to how they were initially. Then when you turn on the water, everything will be as it’s supposed to be. Very simple and works. You’ve now saved yourself a bunch of money from things like draino or worse .... a ridiculous plumber bill.Get it or don’t, it matters not to me. I’ve told you everything you’ll need to get results.
