Intron Depot 4: Bullets Paperback – 19 Oct. 2004

Awesome art. Like the previous Intron Depots.

OK, so this isn't technically one of those "How to Draw" books but I found the studies in Intron Depot: Bullets really useful. There are whole pages of characters and vehicles in various poses and from different angles. The pages of facial expressions were great. Plagarism is a bad thing of course but its very useful to be able to practise drawing with a book like this.Aside from that its interesting if you're a fan of Shirow's work. I find his little asides amusing and it's interesting to see the preliminarly work that goes into these projects. Most of the designs in this book were for games and products that didn't appear in the West so there are not many recognisable characters, this is also the least 'erotic' of Shirow's Intron books, not many greased up semi-naked women here, so if thats what youre after you may be dissapointed.In short though a great reference book for Manga artists and Shirow fans alike.

This volume of the Depot compiles artwork from 1995-1999, and thankfully, like the previous volumes, is presented in Japanese AND English, so you can enjoy all of Shirow’s amusing remarks.For me, the best part about these is getting to see production work of Shirow’s that never made it overseas, and this book is 100% new to me. Ever heard of Blue Ray, Sampaguita, Gundress or Horned Owl? Me neither, so it was pretty cool to page through this extensive 112 compilation. While this isn’t my favorite Depot due to the abundance of CG renders which I can’t get too excited about, it’s still a necessary addition to my collection.

This is my second Intron art book by Shirow Masamune. If your a fan of his work you'll be pleased to have this in your collection.

Although it's not what I was originally looking for, I will still add it to my collection of books of Shirow Masamune. His illustrations are a sight to see; especially when it deals with mechanical drawings.
